Global Awakening Challenges US Dominance

Global Awakening Challenges US Dominance

Zbigniew Brzezinski speaking at a Council on Foreign Relations dinner in Montreal in April 2010 offers his take on realpolitik.

Brzezinski says an unprecedented “global awakening” to geopolitics and the new political weight acquired by the top twenty world economies (the “G20”) are making it increasingly difficult for the US to maintain world dominance.

In an previous version of this speech, published in the NY Times on December 16, 2008, Brzezinski said: “To put it bluntly: in earlier times, it was easier to control one million people than to physically kill one million people; today, it is infinitely easier to kill one million people than to control one million people.”
