Forgiveness

This puts a smile on my face… It is interesting to see how Islamic principles blossoms in different shades, faiths, and lifestyles!

Daring to Live in Love!

In our world today we hold so much shame in our hearts. I know I do. Or at least I did. Until I learned Forgiveness. But what is forgiveness? Does it mean we are simply supposed to forget the past. To pretend it didn’t happen and move forward never thinking about it again?

Forgiveness starts with yourself. And it arrives from Awareness. It arrives from remembering our past, and honestly confronting the mistakes which bring us regret. It comes from taking ownership of the role you played in your mistake. And it is solidified when we make the decision to never make that mistake again. Forgiveness does not arrive from pretending everything we did was perfectly acceptable. Forgiveness arrives when we accept that what we did was wrong and take measures to ensure our actions are never repeated.

It turns out that Loving ourselves it tightly linked to our ability…

Occupy World: Canadians Take to the Streets!

Occupy World: Canadians Take to the Streets!

By Hwaa Irfan

Seemingly quiet, conservative secular Canada has managed to suppress the voice of their indigenous communities, but what has been bubbling unde the surface has erupted when it comes to Canadians in general.

Away from the global eye, as business carries on with greater intensity in order to secure the resources that lead to continued wealth and power of the global financial elite, it has not been business as usual for the ordinary man, woman, and child – the creators of the real wealth.

Students

Following in the tracks of their British counterparts to some extent, Canadian students have taken to the streets to protest against rising cost of higher education – pricing many out of education, as in the U.S. where in 2011, 53% of all U.S. college graduates 25- were either unemployed or underemployed.

Caught between taking one’s place in the world, as defined by the state, and the means to do so, protests of thousands of students have erupted in Quebec and Montreal. A 75% jump in education fees is enough to boil any students blood, but when one ponders on it, it just does not make sense to increase higher education fees so high, so that students cannot afford to proceed with their education, so it does not necessarily follow from a local authority point of view that the jump can help offset the current budget deficit of US$184bn unless there is another intention!

Whatever, that 75% jump is spread over 5 years, in an area with the lowest fees, but with the strongest student movement! The virtual olive branch of an expanded student loans program just puts students more in debt, with the clear cut example of the U.S., which has a student loan debt crisis of U.S.$1trn! As higher education becomes more about making money than providing education, the students of francophile Canada are fighting for more than conservative Anglophile Canada has markedly found acceptable!

As such, for weeks now, protests have been taking place, with frequent stand-offs between the student protestors and the heavily armed riot police at a time when elections are pending. Talking to some groups, and excluding others as formed the picture of divide and rule, leading to 85 arrests, and growing anger amongst the students.

As the protests became more violent, by 26 April, 2012, the protests were stamped illegal making the acts of violence seem more widespread than has been the case to facilitate a crackdown after government student talks broke down on 25 April, 2012 after the 11-week old dispute culminated in a mass protest on Friday 27th in Quebec at the city’s convention center, which has been holding a conference on an issue controversial to the indigenous peoples of Canada and environmentalists, namely development plans to increase energy production.

Enters the other protest in place, against the Kinder Morgan Energy Partners intention to expand oil routes/pipelines to the Asian market in order to decrease dependency on the U.S. market (70% of crude oil is exported to the U.S. currently). Government backed Enbridge involves a Northern Gateway pipeline that will transport oil from the controversial tar sands of Alberta, British Columbia.

As Canada increasinly takes on governance without the people approach, one may expect more protests for different reasons in a Canada that is divided on many levels!

Upstairs Downstairs: The Madhatter Psychiatrist

Upstairs Downstairs: The Madhatter Psychiatrist

By Hwaa Irfan

“Madhatter” is one adjective that has been prescribed to the recent revelation of a wealthy British psychiatrist namely Dr. George Hibbert, but what he has been allowed to get away with is but a symptom of a greater problem,a problem that we measure ourselves by when we give up on our own sanity

“It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society”
– J Krishnamurti

We have found ourselves over a period of time, in belief that those who study and construct theories of what creates a well-balanced human being know better. The context of that belief is the construct of a society since the Industrial Revolution that has demarcated what is socially acceptable, and what is not. That measure of “social acceptance” is in fact about making a society tick in the direction as desired by those who wish to make the ordinary civilian a tool of the state. Certain codes of social conduct becomes the means by which to strip the individual of their human spirit, so that instead of realizing their potential, possessing the creative ability to face the challenges of life, and recognizing their weaknesses and strengths as tool to work with towards greater self understanding, we have individuals who have not individuated as is the natural process of personal development, individuals who with time have a growing sadness, though most times hidden, a great sense of unfulfillment as they are forced to hide away, suppress, and ignore aspects of themselves that is considered socially unacceptable. For instance, one might like to think about what one does,  but thinking requires being quiet, sometimes reserved, and yet one is compelled to behave opposite to one’s nature unless one is a proven genius who is aloud to be so “extravagant”. The process of learning to censor one’s self splits the individual – the seatbed of many imbalanced souls, but a product of the very society that says do as we do, behave as we behave, desire what we desire; and in turn a labeling of some notion that if allowed to be processed in one’s personal development, would not become an issue.

Modern psychiatry in general thrives because of the way society censors and labels what is growing problem, the problem of mental health without recognizing that many of the constructs of society are not life giving, but life taking whether, emotionally, psycholigically, or physiologically.

The case of British psychiatrist, Dr. George Hibbert is a tragedy, a tragedy that would not happen in a well balanced society, that had more respect for what it knows to be true, and less respect for what it knows not to be true.

The British Social Service system, is and has been a shambles, despite the honorable men and women who work within the system doing the best for families in need of help. This is said unequivocally, having worked with many distraught cases that are a product of assumptions about the abilities of the parent/parents and children who have been unfortunate to find themselves in need of a service that the public in general believes is there to help. This misguided notion, provided the support structure for Dr George Hibbert to achieve what he did, and that is the intentional misdiagnosis of hundreds of parents as having ‘personality disorders’ a term which in itself is subjective.

Dr. George Hibbert

Sir Reginald Hibbert, former British embassador to France, and buried in St. Paul’s Cathedral speaks much of position amongst the British elite. It is probably this legacy that helped set Dr George Hibbert apart. As a millionaire psychiatrist Dr George Hibbert (earned £2mn from breaking up families) misdiagnosed to fit the policies and practices of the British Social Services, although there may be more to this than that. His word was final, even though he had never met many of the lives that he had ruined before or after his diagnosis in a country where 90,000 children are in care.

Now under investigation by the General Medical Council, GMC, Hibbert began his career specializing in drink and drug addiction. Not long after he was running an addiction unit including those addicted to cannabis, yet Hibbert became a main shareholder in GW Pharmaceuticals, a company with a Home Office contract to grow and develop medicines from cannabis!

Hibbert left the National Health Service in 2000, and set up a consultancy, “Asessment in Care.” As director and psychiatrist he was free to offer services to local authorities. The picture becomes clearer and his goal set, when one learns of his business partne, Jill Canvin, a lawyer who specialized in children in care proceedings!

Hibberts services included Tadpole Cottage in Wiltshire for which they paid £390,000 in 2001, to house up to 4 families under assessment at the hands of local authorities.

His elite upbringing probably provided the sense of being better, and superior, as reflected by his method at Tadpole Cottage. Staff monitored everything that the parents did with their children whilst at the Cottage for up to 3 months. The families were set bizarre challenges like:

  • Making a mother vaccum the stairs while holding a baby
  • Making parents go on a journey by car, with the baby strapped into the back seat, to simulate a breakdown to see how the parents would respond.
  • 3-month old baby did not appear to respond to its mother telling her she is a good girl. Ignoring the baby’s ability to understand what was said, the mother was accused of not being “in tune” with her baby.

For thise ‘service’ cash strapped local authorities paid £6,000 a week for each family in care, and £210 an hour to read a social services report.

This lucrative business was doing well until 2007, when a mother with her wits about her complained of misdiagnosis with bipolar depression. This was when the GMC began to investigate

More complaints were to follow being placed between “too caring” or “too distant” in response to their children – they couldn’t keep their children no matter what they did as exampled bya  Carbon Future report:

A woman who was at the centre with her eight-week-old son told us that she became alarmed when she arrived because she believed that no one left the establishment with their babies. ‘It was like something from Victorian times. I started to panic,’ she recalls. ‘It seemed like no one got out without having their baby taken away. You would see them screaming and crying, begging not to have their babies taken away.’

From 2007 until now, Hibbert has been under investigation, which questions their intent, and how many more children have been taken away from their families in that time. Early 2012, Hibbert offered to surrender his doctor’s license pending accusations of misdiagnosis, but the GMC refused to accept the offer. With fellow workers claiming his subjective focus on negative aspects, and providing evidence, isn’t 5 years enough to make an objective decision, and then that decision is only about his fitness to practice. It does not include the mother who lost her child, was diagnosed as misdiagnosed for bipolar disorder, and cannot claim her child back who has now been adopted! Where is the justice here!

Liberal Democrat MP, John Hemming called for a full parliamentary inquiry, as to how government agencies paid hundreds and thousands for reports under investigation. Hemmings is quoted to have said:

“[Dr. Hibbert] is someone about whom a number of people have complained. I am told that at least one person has refused to work for him because of what she saw as his unethical provision of reports to suit the demands of local authorities”.

Meanwhile, NGOs, ELC, and FLINT are seeking experts in public and private law proceedings on professionals they have concerns about including Dr. George Hibbert in play therapy, personality disorders, diagnosis, drugging children with Ritalin and the like, and Prozac.

It might take all those parents who have been misdiagnosed (in some cases they might not be aware that they have) to take legal action for not only justice to be done, but for a complete shake up of a system that only seems capable of destroying families not supporting them! Some parents have already begun to approach Paul Grant, of Bernard Chill & Axtell Solicitors, but efforts should be made to ensure that all cases are reviewed.

From: Childrenscreamingtobeheard.com

A child aged nine so thin and frail; living in fear one day at school reports an abuse by the parents to the social services, who interviewed the child at school and then left the child to be driven to the social services offices by the parents. The child, already in a trauma, is now petrified on being questioned in the car by the parents about what the child had told to the social services. On arriving at the offices the child was held in a room until 9 pm that evening with no dinner. The child was then allowed to be taken home by the grandparent, who the child trusted and loved, and for many months that child became the happiest little child on the planet. But on a terrible day the child was ripped and torn away from the love and security of the grandparent’s home. The child was torn away on the lies of the social services, and from that day on, the child lost all of its human rights along with no rights for the grandparent and other family members who had loved and cared for the child, who the child had trusted. The child was never allowed to call friends, write letters use a telephone. All contact along with the child’s human rights stopped the day the child was taken by social services.

The Fostercare Business Scandal

Demand Justice for families torn apart

A caring and competent Michigan mother refuses to let child services take her very normal child and forcibly drug her with psychiatric medications. The reaction from the state was to bring in the swat teams and a tank for a day long stand off. Who needs a swat team and a tank to take on a mother and her daughter?

Fact Stranger Than Fiction: Has the American Dream Become a Nightmare!*

Fact Stranger Than Fiction: Has the American Dream Become a Nightmare!*

#1 The percentage of Americans that own homes is dropping rapidly.  According to Gallup, the current level of homeownership in the United States is the lowest that Gallup has ever measured.

#2 Home prices in the U.S. continue to fall like a rock as well.  They have declined for six months in a row and are now down a total of 35 percent from the peak of the housing bubble.  The last time that home prices in the United States were this low was back in 2002.

#3 Last year, an astounding 53 percent of all U.S. college graduates under the age of 25 were either unemployed or underemployed.

#4 Back in 2007, about 10 percent of all unemployed Americans had been out of work for 52 weeks or longer.  Today, that number is above 30 percent.

#5 When Barack Obama first became president, the number of “long-term unemployed workers” in the United States was 2.6 million.  Today, it is 5.3 million.

#6 The average duration of unemployment in the United States is about three times as long as it was back in the year 2000.

#7 Despite what the mainstream media would have us to believe, the truth is that the percentage of working age Americans that are employed is not increasing.  Back in March 2010, 58.5 percent of all working age Americans were employed.  In March 2011, 58.5 percent of all working age Americans were employed. In March 2012, 58.5 percent of all working age Americans were employed.  So how can Barack Obama and the mainstream media claim that the employment situation in the United States is getting better?  The employment rate is still essentially exactly where it was when the last recession supposedly ended.

#8 Back in 1950, more than 80 percent of all men in the United States had jobs.  Today, less than 65 percent of all men in the United States have jobs.

#9 In 1962, 28 percent of all jobs in America were manufacturing jobs.  In 2011, only 9 percent of all jobs in America were manufacturing jobs.

#10 In some areas of Detroit, Michigan you can buy a three bedroom home for just $500.

#11 According to one recent survey, approximately one-third of all Americans are not paying their bills on time at this point.

#12 Since Barack Obama entered the White House, the price of gasoline has risen by more than 100 percent.

#13 The student loan debt bubble continues to expand at a very frightening pace.  Recently it was announced that total student loan debt in the United States has passed the one trillion dollar mark.

#14 Incredibly, one out of every four jobs in the United States pays $10 an hour or less at this point.

#15 Household incomes all over the United States continue to fall.  After adjusting for inflation, median household income in America has declined by 7.8 percent since December 2007.

#16 Over the past several decades, government dependence has risen to unprecedented heights in the United States.

#17 In November 2008, 30.8 million Americans were on food stamps.  Today, more than 46 million Americans are on food stamps.

#18 Right now, more than 25 percent of all American children are on food stamps.

#19 According to the U.S. Census Bureau, today 49 percent of all Americans live in a home that receives some form of benefits from the federal government.

#20 Over the next 75 years, Medicare is facing unfunded liabilities of more than 38 trillion dollars.  That comes to $328,404 for each and every household in the United States.

#21 During the first quarter of 2012, U.S. public debt rose by 359.1 billion dollars.  U.S. GDP only rose by 142.4 billion dollars.

#22 At this point, the U.S. national debt is rising by more than 2 million dollars every single minute.

#23 The U.S. national debt has risen by more than 5 trillion dollars since the day that Barack Obama first took office.  In a little more than 3 years Obama has added more to the national debt than the first 41 presidents combined.

#24 The Federal Reserve bought up approximately 61 percent of all government debt issued by the U.S. Treasury Department during 2011.

#25 The Federal Reserve continues to systematically destroy the value of the U.S. dollar.  Since 1970, the U.S. dollar has lost more than 83 percent of its value.

But the horrible economic statistics only tell part of the story.

In communities all over America there is a feeling that something fundamental has changed.  Businesses that have been around for generations are shutting their doors and there is a lot of fear in the air.

Cyber Intelligence Law Passed by House of Representatives

Cyber Intelligence Law Passed by House of Representatives

By Hwaa Irfan

Western democracy seems to be excelling in the very thing that it’s dictatorial, and monarchic past failed to do, to place the masses, and their resources at the beck and call of their masters. I would never thought I would I would such a term “masses”, but so it is, for we are a far cry from what Western democracy is said to do, making the people the owners of sovereignty, and legislation that of majority opinion.  The real owners of Western democracy have worked real and hard, to misinform the people, make them concerned with acummulating possession, to work endlessly to keep, maintain, and accrue those possessions whether they wear grey suits, and drive around in a Porsche, or wear overalls.

Meanwhile, upstairs, those that are acrruing the real wealth of those they subordinate in a manner that is far from honorable, and unbeknown to the makers of that wealth, power, and position can be trying – their world takes on a whole list of insecurities mainly imaginery, but also real, becuase when push comes to shove, they are their own wrost enemies.

Upstairs they can speak more boldy and clearly about their true agenda, becuase most of the masses continue to believe as they have been taught, but when things go wrong, and fingers start pointing at them, an instant knee-jerk is quite revealing about the type of persons we have honored and respected for the wrong reasons while they have been robbing us blind!

That instant knee-jerk is a product of their spying efforts from the past, the computer, and the Internet, made for pubic consumption as a means of making it acceptable. The 30 -40 or so years of gobal use hase been great, allowing users to learn about things they would never learn at school, hence the problem.

Since 2011, to be more precise since the spate of uprisings, and mass protests, the mantra of controling the Internet has progressed from words to actions in the first quarter of 2012.

  • SOPA, the Stop Online Piracy Act
  • PIPA, Protect IP Act
  • ACTA, the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement

The end result being to control, access, or block the transfer of information, albeit it in hte name of piracy.

Still in the first quarter, with the full steam of paranoia as the driving impetus, we have CISPA, the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act to compensate for the outcry that prevented SOPA from becoming law. Passed one day before it was declared that it would go to the House of Representatives, and one day after the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats in the European Parliament refused to support the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) on the back of mounting non-acceptance from European countries, CISPA, HR 3523 was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives by 248-168 votes on 27th April 2012.

The Con

The final version includes an amendment presented by Arizona republican, Ben Quayle that was tabled as a means of limiting government powers over personal and private information of the American peoples, but in reality will do the opposite! This includes investigation and prosecution on “alleged” internet crimes, protection of individuals including children. One wonders what the loophole will be for the high up officials/companies involved in child trafficking, and child porn via the Internet!

For the 1,000+ expat American citizens who prefer to remain expat than pay Inland Revenue to maintain citizenship, one cannot blame them, as CISPA if passed into law will support the other mechanism in place depriving all American citizens of any privacy. Those mechanisms included:

  • The National Security Agency’s massive data center in Utah
  • The ISP digital surveillance scheme
  • The National Counterterrorism Center, which now has power over all personal/private data of American citizens.

According to Reverend Ted Pike:

“CISPA grants special security clearances to the largest Jewish-owned internet providers, such as Verizon, Comcast, Google, and Facebook.”

However, being Jewish is not a sin, but being a Zionist is, and one does not have to be Jewish to be a zionist!

However, as with ACTA, no civilian seems to know the full details although to date the following countries have signed but not ratified ACTA:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • European Union, and 22 members states
  • Japan
  • Morocco
  • New Zealand
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • United States

Yet, the public that ACTA is supposed to protect have no access to the details under the guise of “national security”, accept national security in practice means the government, the shadow government, and their networks. The people are out of the picture, or could we be percieved as the enemy!

Occupy World: Blue Eagles vs. Racketeering Bankers*

Occupy World: Blue Eagles Protest vs. Profiteering Bankers*

By Pratap Chaterjee

Wearing blue eagle masks and garlands of money, protestors gathered outside the Barclays bank shareholder meeting in London, while a giant, cigar-smoking inflatable rat accompanied activists at the Wells Fargo annual meeting in San Francisco. Meanwhile shareholders in Dallas voted overwhelmingly against a multi-million dollars pay package for Citibank’s CEO while almost a third did the same at the Credit Suisse meeting in Zurich.

Annual general meeting season is in full swing and hundreds of people are showing up to protest excessive pay at banks around the world. The numbers have swollen from years past with the vigor injected from the long summer of Occupy protests around the world in 2011 that protested the failure of government to tackle the economic crisis and reign in private capital.

In London, activists with the World Development Movement and Robin Hood Tax, dressed up with blue eagle masks (mimicking the company’s logo) gathered outside the Royal Festival Hall. Some 800 shareholders attended the meeting where they heckled Bob Diamond, the CEO who was paid just shy of $28 million last year. One woman described the bank as “”ruthless, heartless, cruel” while another investor yelled: “You are all part of the same club.”  Almost 27 percent voted against the company’s proposed pay package.

In Zurrich some 1,750 shareholders attended the Credit Suisse annual meeting on Thursday where almost a third of the votes recorded rejected individual pay packages as high as $9.35 million (for Robert Shafir who heads up the asset management team) “You should be ashamed of yourselves for taking so much money away from us,” said Rudolf Weber, a shareholder, who spoke up during the meeting. “We are the owners of this bank, and you are our employees. We should be the ones who decide what you earn.”

On Tuesday Vikram Pandit, the CEO of Citibank, faced a revolt against his proposed salary of $15 million. Some 55 percent of shareholders voted against – the first time in history that a pay proposal at a major U.S. bank has been voted down since the law was amended to allow such voted under the Dodd-Frank act of 2010. Two days later, Stanley Moskal, a Citi shareholder, sued Pandit and the Citibank board for breaching their fiduciary duties stating that the vote had “cast doubt on the board’s decision-making process, as well as the accuracy and truthfulness of its public statements.”

The same Tuesday, thousands of activists gathered in San Francisco outside the Wells Fargo annual meeting at the Merchants Exchange Building to protest the bank which is the second-largest U.S. bank as measured by deposits. The crowd was joined by a fake stagecoach (the bank’s logo that reflects its Gold Rush history) labeled “Hell’s Cargo” and a giant cigar-smoking inflatable rat. A small group linked arms to prevent shareholders from attending the meeting while others went inside to protest. A total of 24 protestors – 14 inside the meeting and ten outside – were arrested.

“Wells Fargo is one of the largest and most corrupt Wall Street banks and has foreclosed on hundreds of thousands of homes,” Charles Davidson of Move On East Bay told Reuters. “I think it’s really important that we stand up to this or the economic crisis will continue.”

However Wells Fargo shareholders failed to rally against CEO John Stumpf’s salary where over 90 percent voted for his $19.8 million pay package.
