Whenever I go visiting, I have to make sure I’m equipped with a small jar of honey. Not because of the information on the general effects of sugar, but because of the effects of sugar on me! That cup of tea/coffee can throw my stomach into turmoil!
First thing, sugar is not white. Second thing, sugar changes the Ph balance of the body from alkaline to acid, and a lot of modern diseases like cancer thrive in an acidic environment. Refined white sugar within seconds of digestion can cause:
- Extreme mood swings
- Insulin spikes
Within time it makes the body suitable for the following to thrive:
- Chronic inflammation
- Chronic fatigue
- Immune suppression
- Heart disease
Bone char, used to process cane sugar. The bone char/natural carbon is from the bones of cattle from Afghanistan, Argentina, India, and Pakistan. The bones are sold to traders in Scotland, Egypt, and Brazil who then sell them back to the U.S. sugar industry. Bone char is what makes sugar white. Brown sugar is white sugar coloured with molasses, which is healthier because molasses contains natural iron. Supermarket brands get their sugar from various refineries, making it difficult to know whether bone char is used or not.
Refined white sugar is raw sugar syrup mixed with a heavy syrup and run through a centrifuge again to take away the outer coating of the raw sugar crystals. Thus refined sugar becomes a poison because it has been depleted of its life forces, vitamins and minerals, without which the body cannot use it.
Phosphoric acid and calcium hydroxide/ carbon dioxide are added to absorb or trap impurities.
Refined white sugar drains and leaches the body of precious vitamins and minerals. From cultivation, it is grown with synthetic fertilizers and weed sprays.
