A Successful Strike Against RFID’s – Personalized Electronic Tracking System

A Successful Strike Against RFID’s – Personalized Electronic Tracking System

It was in 2012 that one Texan school girl, Andrea Hernandez with the support of her parents std up against being tagged with a radio frequency tracker, RFID. This was a battle that began in August 2012, when students and parents challenged the school with a detailed and informed statement on their reasons and the backing of 21 NGOs/organizations at San Antonio’s Northside Independent School District (NISD).

Even though the court typically decided in favour of NISD, declaring the cards didn’t violate the students’ privacy or “right of religion,” the district has ‘decided’ to abandon the RFID tracking system.

Spokesman Pascual Gonzalez told Slate’s Will Oremus that the RFID tracker failed to increase school attendance which in turn would increase school revenue, and that it involved too much staff time to physically track down missing students based on their RFID locators.

Instead of investing the money into making the education process an engaging one, NISD intend to turn the 300 cameras instead as part of the RFID system at John Jay High School and Jones Middle School into a surveillance system.

They never considered the detrimental factor to student heath in the first place, just as equally as it has never occurred to them that there is something fundamentally wrong with a system of education that needs a surveillance system that has yet to prove the ability to increase safety and security.

UK Poll: Muslims give more to Charity than Other Faiths*

UK Poll: Muslims give more to Charity than Other Faiths*

By Rizwan Khatik

Muslims give more money to charity than people of other religions, according to a new British poll.

More than three in 10 Muslims, Catholics and Jews donated money during 2012, ICM Research found.

Followers of Islam gave an average of $567 compared to Jewish givers who donated around $412, according to the survey of just over 4,000 people in the U.K.

Christians gave considerably less. Protestants donated an average of $308, while Roman Catholics gave around $272, the poll found. Atheists averaged just $177.

In total 4,036 people answered the question: “How much, if at all, would you say you generally donated to charities last year?”

Respondents were asked to exclude buying items from charity stores or sponsoring someone for a charity activity.

The finding follows a recent Pew Research Center survey of more than 38,000 Muslims in 39 countries, which found that 77 percent said they donated to charity.

Data from the online platform also shows that Muslims are increasingly using online methods for their Zakat — the Muslim practice of charitable donations — with a growth of close to 70 percent over the last two years.

“Our data shows many of Britain’s Muslim communities are at the forefront of digital giving, driving an increase in Zakat donations,” Zarine Kharas, their CEO explained.

PepsiCo’s Naked Juice Laced with Synthetic and GMO Ingredients

PepsiCo’s Naked Juice Laced with Synthetic and GMO Ingredients

After all it was too good to be true… anyone who knows Pepsico knows there is always a toxic ingredient.

By Christina Sarich

PepsiCo has recently agreed to settle out of court for $9 million over a class action lawsuit that claimed ‘natural’ and ‘non-GMO’ on their bottles was misleading since they are made with GMO ingredients, as well as synthetic and ‘unnatural’ items.

The plaintiffs in the suit claimed that PepsiCo gave the “the false impression that the beverages vitamin content is due to the nutritious fruits and juices, rather than the added synthetic compounds such as

calcium pantothenate (synthetically produced from formaldehyde)”

  • “Fibersol-2 (a proprietary synthetic digestion-resistant fiber produced by Archer Daniels Midland and developed by a Japanese chemical company)
  • fructooligosaccharides (a synthetic fiber and sweetener)
  • inulin (an artificial and invisible fiber added to foods to … increase fiber content without the typical fiber mouth-feel).

The amount of synthetic additives in Naked juices are quite possibly more than anything ‘natural’ at all. It certainly isn’t a ‘100% juice” smoothie as the labeling on the bottle currently states. Naked juices contain up to 11 different chemicals including: niacinamide, d-alpha tocopherol acetate, cyanocobalamin, and pyridoxine hydrochloride, just to name a few.

Under the deal the consumer plaintiffs lodged with the federal court, Naked Juice will continue to deny the allegations that its product labels were misleading or false but agreed shell out $9 million for a settlement fund and to redesign the labels to either eliminate or modify the representations at issue. The deal allows for the plaintiffs’ counsel to ask the court for attorneys’ fees and expenses of up to $3.12 million, to be paid from the settlement fund.

Not surprisingly Pepsi Co donated more than $2.5 million dollars to help defeat Proposition 37 in California that would have required companies like Pepsi to label all products that contain GMOs in any form. The ‘Right to Know” ballot was defeated due to special interest groups like Syngenta, Dow, Monsanto, Pepsi Co, and others who helped finance its demise.

If you want real juice, try putting some organic apples, lemons and kale in a juicer. No corporate lies need to be added to the recipe.

Monsanto’s Legacy to the Vietnamese

Monsanto’s Legacy to the Vietnamese

Forty years and three generations after Monsanto, the GM bio-engineering agricultural giant unleashed the bi-weapon Agent Orange n the Vietnamese during the US engendered Vietnam War under ‘Operation Ranch Hand’, the child in the photo above was born without eyes.

Aged 75, Hoang Thi Te wishes the U.S. military would have made a weapon that would have killed her children right away, instead of leaving to suffer decades later. Tran Duc Nghia, 39 is confined a wheelchair at his mother’s house. His father died years ago from exposure to Agent Orange as a soldier for the American-allied South Vietnamese regime. Born normal, Tran Duc Nghia developed mental and physical problems by the time he was 12 years old. His limbs have atrophied from lack of use, and he can no longer speak. His mind is trapped inside the increasingly useless shell of his body describes his 75-year-old mother, Hoang Thi The. His sister 33 year old sister Tran Thi Na, 33, has begun to develop the same symptoms. This family gets n support from the government.

Dang Chi Trung and his sister, Dang Chi Tam are forced to live on a government allowance of about $60 a month in a small house down a narrow alley that once belonged to their parents – both parents are dead. Dang Chi Tam now aged 44, is mentally, because her parents were exposed to Agent Orange and is looked after by her brother on whom she is totally dependent. Dang Chi Tam doesn’t even know how to go the toilet. Because of his sister, Dang Chi Trung has never been married or able to work due to the fulltime responsibility of his sister.

Le Thi Thu, 42, and her daughter, Nguyen Thi Ly, 11, are second and third generation victims of Agent Orange.

The Vietnam Red Cross estimates that Agent Orange has affected 3 million people spanning three generations, including at least 150,000 children born with severe birth defects since the war ended in 1975.

According to a 2003 Columbia University study at least 3,181 villages were directly sprayed on. Not everyone qualifies for government assistance reports Drew Brown, only those whose parents fought for the US get a monthly allowance.

James R. Clary was the young US Air Force officer, and scientist who designed the spray tank for the C-123 cargo planes that dispersed Agent Orange across Vietnam. Thirteen years after the war Clary let it be known that US Military scientists knew that the dioxin used had “the potential for damage” to human health. It didn’t matter, because they were the perceived enemy until it became a concern that:

“We never considered a scenario in which our own personnel would become contaminated with the herbicide,” Clary wrote to then-Sen. Tom Daschle, D-S.D.

Produced by Monsanto Corp. and Dow Chemical:

“The government specified the chemical composition of Agent Orange and when, where and how the material was to be used in the field, including application rates,” Monsanto said.

“Makers of Agent Orange followed formula dictated by U.S. government”
