Madagascar: Plague Epidemic is Back!*

Madagascar: Plague Epidemic is Back!*

Did WHO, eugenicists and it’s medical mafia gamble on the wrong virus?

By Aaron Akinyemi

An outbreak of the bubonic plague – commonly known as the “Black Death” – has killed 40 people in Madagascar since August. And now there is a risk of the disease spreading rapidly through the country’s capital Antananarivo.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has report that 119 people have been infected by the bacteria Yersinia pestisYersinia is normally spread by fleas, but WHO has confirmed that two infections, and one death, were caused by an airborne variant of the disease – pneumonic plague –which attacks the lungs and can kill in 24 hours.

WHO warns the numbers of infected people could quickly rise, due to Antananarivo’s high population density and weak healthcare system.

The first known case of the plague in the outbreak was a man from the Soamahatamana village in the district of Tsiroanomandidy, which was identified on 31 August.

He died on 3 September, but authorities did not notify WHO about the outbreak until 4 November.

“Cases have been reported in 16 districts of seven regions,” the WHO said. “The situation is further complicated by the high level of resistance to deltamethrin (an insecticide used to control fleas) that has been observed in the country.

“The national task force has been activated to manage the outbreak. With support from partners – including WHO, the Pasteur Institute of Madagascar, the Commune urbaine d’Antananarivo and the Red Cross – the government of Madagascar has put in place effective strategies to control the outbreak.”

The African Development Bank has also helped fund a $200,000 (£127,700) response project to tackle the epidemic.

Madagascar’s government has begun a campaign to eradicate fleas and rodents in the area.

Plague is a bacterial infection of Yersinia pestis that is spread between by fleas which feed off rodents. Humans bitten by an infected flea typically develop the bubonic form of the plague, which swells lymph nodes. This form of the plague is treatable with antibiotics.

However, in some cases the pestis spreads to the victim’s lungs, causing pneumonia. This form of the disease can kill in 24 hours, and can be transmitted between people by droplets from coughing and sneezing.

On very rare occasions bubonic plague can mutate into septicemic plague, which kills by causing the victim’s blood to clot.

The last major outbreak of plague was in Peru in 2010, when 17 cases of plague in Ascope province were confirmed.

Anonymous has Evidence that Ferguson’s Killer Cop Wilson is Connected to KKK

Anonymous has Evidence that Ferguson’s Killer Cop Wilson is Connected to KKK*

Hacktivist, group Anonymous claims to have evidence that the police officer who shot black teenager Mike Brown in August is a member of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK).

As part of an on-going campaign targeting the KKK, Anonymous claims to have received evidence from a source which links Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson with the far right group.

According to a statement, the group says it has not published the evidence as it believes it would endanger the life of the person who provided it. Having handed over the evidence, the source emailed, pleading for Anonymous not to publish the information:

This has gotten out of control. They want to kill you. And after you release this information, they will want to kill me. I am scared for my life right now. I am begging you to please do not release the information that I gave. I’m afraid that because the information I provided is so specific, that it will definitely be traced back to me, and I will be in danger. I am a long time supporter of Anonymous, and have trusted you with my identity. Now I feel my life is in your hands. I’m begging you please. I have a family to think of.

Anonymous says that it has been trying to independently verify the claims but has so far been unable to do so to their satisfaction.

In the last week the hacktivist group has been carrying out a campaign entitled #OperationKKK after a local KKK group – the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (TAKKKK) – began distributing leaflets in Ferguson promising to use “lethal force” against any protestors.

Anonymous took control of several KKK-affiliated Twitter accounts and continue to carry out cyber attacks against websites associated with the group.

Anonymous has been involved in the Ferguson incident from the very beginning when teenager Mike Brown was shot dead by Officer Wilson on 9 August.

While it did a lot to help bring attention to the over-the-top reaction by police to protestors in the St. Louis suburb, one member of the group also erroneously published the incorrect name of the police officer involved at a time when Wilson’s name had not been made public – significantly damaging the Anonymous name in a lot of people’s eyes.

In its latest statement, Anonymous claims there is a strong link between the TAKKKK and the Ferguson police department, and in the last week has published evidence showing that three high-ranking members of the TAKKKK attended a support rally for Darren Wilson in Imperial, Missouri – evidence which has now been removed from social media websites.

The group claims members of the law enforcement community in the area are silent members of the TAKKKK and call themselves the ‘Ghoul Squad’.

This claim is substantiated by an ex-member of the TAKKKK called Henry Harrell who told Anonymous: “I know for a fact that the TAKKKK had a lot to do with what went on in Ferguson.”

Frank Ancona, the imperial wizard of the TAKKKK is also accused of being part of this Ghoul Squad with Anonymous pointing to the fact Ancona recently checked in on Facebook at the Ferguson Police Department as evidence of his ties with law enforcement.

Ancona posted a message online this week goading Anonymous and promising to publish information on those behind the OpKKK campaign:

But you, you’re hiding behind pathetic masks, trying your best to disable to the Klan, which will never happen. Now let us tell you, we’ve paid people inside your little pathetic group “Anonymous” for your information, and from what has been given to us already, the main leaders of this #OpKKK have already been identified.

Ancona also called out Anonymous:

“If you want war, we will give you war, not online, but on the streets, we will hunt you down and tear those masks from your face.”

Anonymous has responded by announcing a protest on the streets of Ferguson.

State of emergency

The situation in Ferguson is on a knife-edge at the moment as all sides await the announcement of a decision from the grand jury. The overwhelming belief is that it will decide to bring no charges against Wilson, which could spark widespread and violent protests.

Earlier this week Missouri governor Jay Nixon initiated a state of emergency in the state ahead of the predicted announcement, and on Thursday, a spokesperson for the St. Louis county prosecutor sent a test email to its press list which is seen as another indication that an announcement is imminent.

Whatever the outcome it looks likely that Wilson will no longer be a member of the Ferguson Police Department for much longer as CNN is reporting he is in final negotiations with officials about resigning.

Protests began again in Ferguson on Thursday night along with some arrests and accusations of over-zealous police response and it is obvious that whatever the outcome of the grand jury, the situation in the town is going to be worse before it gets better.

High School Students Refuse to Take State-wide Tests*

High School Students Refuse to Take State-wide Tests*

By Amy Bounds

More than 1,500 Boulder Valley high-school students — 84% of the district’s seniors — refused to take the state’s new science and social studies tests Thursday in a widespread protest against how much classroom time is devoted to standardized testing.

At Boulder’s Fairview High, nine out of 530 eligible seniors took the test, while about 200 seniors showed up at the school to wave signs, collect food and school supplies for holiday drives, and write letters to policymakers.

“That we had so many students out there in the freezing weather really shows how committed we are,” Fairview senior Jessica Piper said. “We had a really good turnout.”

Seniors, for the first time, are taking state science and social studies tests, with Boulder Valley and many other districts in the state scheduling the test for Thursday and Friday. In previous years, ninth- and 10th-graders took state tests, while juniors took the ACT and seniors were exempt.

Students in other districts also failed to show for the tests, with parents in both Boulder Valley and elsewhere agreeing to opt them out.

Those parental refusals were concentrated in a few of the state’s highest-performing and most affluent school districts.

At nine Douglas County high schools, nearly 1,900 students did not take the tests or more than half the overall student population at those schools, according to preliminary data provided by the district.

The student protests come as educators and parents are raising concerns that too much time is now spent on testing, with Boulder Valley Superintendent Bruce Messinger agreeing that the state hasn’t found “the right balance.”

He added that the students did a good job of demonstrating their concern.

“We hope it will generate good discussion around these assessments,” he said.

‘Protesting in the freezing cold’

A state task force, with a report due to the state Legislature by Jan. 31, is now investigating testing cost, timelines, impact on instruction and opt-out options.

In a statement Thursday, Colorado Education Commissioner Robert Hammond said he hears the concerns about the timing and volume of testing.

“I understand the frustration,” Hammond said.

“I am fully committed to evaluating how the testing goes and working with districts and policymakers to identify ways to improve. I know that together we will find the best pathway forward that yields the best results for students.”

Along with protesting, seniors at Fairview, Broomfield High and Centaurus High wrote an open letter — complete with footnotes — to the community about the reasons behind the protest.

At Fairview on Thursday morning, senior Cody Limber said students wanted to make their displeasure over the standardized tests heard.

“We’re not happy with not only the money being spent, but with the time being spent,” he said.

Added senior Emma Boelts,

We’re all out here protesting in the freezing cold for our educational rights.”

The students are planning to continue the protest Friday.

Students ‘were very thoughtful’

Fairview Principal Don Stensrud said he was “very proud of the students for exercising their rights.”

“They were very thoughtful in their planning,” he said.

“They wanted to make sure it wouldn’t cause any harm to the district.”

While this first round of senior science and social studies tests won’t count for school accountability measures, districts will be held accountable for reaching a 95 percent participation rate. If Boulder Valley’s participation is lower, Messinger said, the district will need to show that it made an effort to get students to test or face a lower state accreditation rating.

Schools gave new state science and social studies tests in elementary and middle school in the spring. New online tests in reading and math will debut in the spring of 2015.

The Colorado Department of Education estimates that third-graders will spend 490 minutes on tests, fourth- and fifth-graders 800 minutes, sixth graders 570 minutes, seventh- and eighth-graders 840 minutes, ninth- and 10th-graders 600 minutes, juniors — who take the ACT along with state tests — 795 minutes, and seniors 540 minutes.

A Phone-Call Stops Interrupts Jim Carrey in his Take on the Illuminati*

A Phone-Call Stops Interrupts Jim Carrey in his Take on the Illuminati*
By Jeff Roberts

Jim Carrey is a well-known jokester. By now, his kooky public antics have come to be expected from the 52 year old Canadian-born actor.

In his latest public appearance, seen November 14th on the Jimmy Kimmel show, Carrey decided to let the viewers in on some big secrets, the inner-Hollywood workings of the Illuminati.

In a grand entrance, Carrey comes forward on Kimmel’s stage making an obvious and in-your-face hand gesture, as seen in the image above.

The crowd screamed and applauded with jubilance, and it was unclear whether they were screaming because they aware of the hand symbol he was making, or whether they were simply excited to see the actor after a short stint away from Hollywood in recent years.

In the video (seen below), Carrey spends an extended period of time making the triangle hand symbol while protruding his tongue from the center, while a curious but humored Kimmel watches from behind at his desk.

The audience finally calms down after Carrey takes a seat at Kimmel’s desk, after which Kimmel asks, “What Is that exactly? Is that a gang sign?”

Carrey shoots Kimmel a look of surprise, “Oh like you don’t know what it is,” he jokes. Kimmel answers “No I don’t.”

“So you don’t know what it is, Jimmy Fallon doesn’t know, David Letterman doesn’t know what it is, all the comics in show business don’t know what this is?” he states while making the triangle hand gesture once again.

For those who aren’t sure what Carrey is referencing, the triangle with a symbol in the middle (typically an eye) represents the Illuminati, a hidden governing force which has ties in all of today’s biggest industries, including financial, entertainment, military, and religious.

Jay Z, Kanye West, and Rihanna making the same triangle hand gesture.

Illuminati references have become ubiquitous throughout Hollywood, as seen in a number of films, television shows, music videos, and even live performances.

After Kimmel continues to deny knowing what Carrey is doing, Carrey finally reveals,

“Come on Jimmy, I’m here to blow the whistle off of this whole thing. I’m sick and tired of the secrets and the lies, it’s the secret symbol of the Illumi-nutty, and you’re a part of it. It’s the all mocking tongue.” Carrey boasts to a laughing audience.

“Carrey goes on to explain (with a not-so-serious undertone) how many people in the entertainment industry have been hired by the government to distract the masses by making us happy and docile, so that we don’t know what’s really going on. Carrey also adds that they decide these things “out in the woods in a circle, naked.”

Next he reveals that the Illuminati is trying to turn the masses into “consumer drones,” after which he receives a fake phone call which he answers. We watch as his face immediately turns serious, and a curious Kimmel asks who it was.

Carrey is now zombie-like, and turns to Jimmy explaining, “I’m sor-ry, Jimmy, I-was tempor-arily inter-rupted by my iPhone 6+, with HD display,” the audience erupts in laughter and cheers.

The segment ends with an original plug for his new film, Dumb and Dumber To, leaving the audience thoroughly entertained.
Was There Truth Behind Carrey’s Extended ‘Joke’?
Although there was an apparent undertone of humor to Carrey’s stunt, many of the things he mentioned are in fact based in truth.

The term ‘Illuminati’ comes with connotations of conspiracy, however, the term simply refers to the high-level bankers who own a large majority of our world. The Rothschilds and Rockefellers, to name a few.

These families have ties to practically every industry that exists today, including Hollywood. The origins of these families are also connected to esoteric occult organizations, such as Freemasonry.

This is where occult symbolism, such as the triangle and all seeing eye, comes into fruition. The theory states that many Hollywood hopefuls display these symbols, which are hidden in plain sight, in order to show their allegiance to the ‘global elite’ and to better themselves within the industry.

Bohemian Grove; every year a group of men involved with high levels of politics and finance meet in secrecy in a remote area of California. Jim Carrey references this in his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel.

Bohemian Grove; every year a group of men involved with high levels of politics and finance meet in secrecy in a remote area of California. Jim Carrey references this in his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel.

One could argue that Carrey was poking fun at the Illuminati conspirists, however, considering Carrey is known for being publicly involved in the ‘truth movement’, one must naturally question if this public appearance was a planned tactic to spread awareness about the global elite.

With a platform as wide-reaching as the Jimmy Kimmel show, it would definitely be a perfect opportunity to do so.

Encroaching Drought in Brazil and World’s Agricultural Regions*

Encroaching Drought in Brazil and World’s Agricultural Regions*

The problem of a diminishing water supply is taking its toll on the residents of Brazil, pointing to the growing issue of a world that is running out of water and as a result, entering a global crisis which will likely have serious agricultural, social and economic consequences.

In Brazil, so severe are droughts (October rain showers in the Sao Paulo area were one-fifth the normal amount) that over the past six months, more than 10 million people in Sao Paulo have been told cut water use. In Itu, Sao Paulo, where rain and groundwater is relied upon more than rivers, a reservoir has fallen to a shocking 2% of capacity; its residents no longer see water coming from a tap. Violent protests from residents who want tap water restored are taking place and in other areas, so coveted is water that its a common sight for police escorts to accompany water trucks in an effort to stave off potentially armed men from hijacking them. In other instances, people are filling their small cars to the gills with water bottles while other individuals are paying exorbitant fees to obtain water from private water trucks.

The troublesome issue of less water, more politics

Lack of rainwater is not the only issue disrupting the water supply in Brazil; residents say that the government has failed to upgrade a faulty water distribution network, one that is losing 30% of its resources because of unfixed leaks. Even efforts for the production of more potable water and to implement improved environmental measures to protect the rivers that flow into area reservoirs have been met with resistance, mainly because of a government that didn’t want to risk losing votes during October elections. Despite the strains that the lack of water is having on the land and its people, the government there maintains that water conservation measures are working well enough.

But Tercio Ambrizzi, a professor at the University of Sao Paulo’s Department of Atmospheric Science who is also a key leader with Brazil’s climate change council, isn’t in agreement with the government’s less than tepid desire to get the issue back on track. A believer in investing in natural resources and turning to solar energy and wind farms, Ambrizzi says, ” . . . we have to manage our dams in a way that we can save some more water, and we have to change . . . our energy strategy in Brazil.” Sadly though, he says that “Unfortunately in Brazil, the politics comes first.”

Brazil is not alone with their water supply problems.

The “whole world” needs to be worried about droughts

California has been extremely hard hit. Since 2011, Californians of the San Joaquin and Sacramento river basins have lost four cubic miles of total water annually which translates to more water than all 38 million residents of the entire state use every year for domestic and municipal reasons. Diminishing groundwater has played a significant role in the matter there.

As a result, the state is suffering. The U.S. Drought Monitor estimates that about 82% of California is in the throes of extreme drought and very recently, the University of California at Davis released a study that predicts 2015 to be another dry year where the state will see approximately $1.5 billion in farm losses. Already, acreage to grow corn has fallen 34% from 2013, while it’s down 53 percent for wheat.

China has also been impacted by extreme droughts, namely in their northeastern Manchurian Plain. Once considered a hub of harvest activity, zero harvest has been reported. Part of the plain is experiencing the lowest rainfall since 1951, affecting drinking water and water used for irrigation. Australia is also affected, their Canning Basin negatively impacted. But like Brazil, politics can make necessary change difficult.

“Drought policy is very complex,” Australia’s drought policy expert and University of Canberra Professor Linda Botterill says.

“It’s complex because there is the welfare dimension as well as the farm business dimension, and getting the balance right between those two is particularly challenging.”

Clearly, the issue of fading water supplies is problematic around the globe, with food security hanging by a thread.

Perhaps Brazilian farmer Juliano Jose Polidor sums up the issue the best. “I think we are getting to the hour where it’s not just me who needs to be worried, but the whole world.”

57 Million Americans Warn UK about GM Crops*

In an open letter published in The Times newspaper and promoted through a digital billboard at Waterloo station, American celebrities, Susan Sarandon, Daryl Hannah and Robert Kennedy Jr joined US NGOs, trade groups and businesses such as Food & Water Watch, the Sierra Club, the Rachel Carson Council, Friends of the Earth, the Organic Consumers Association, Dr Bronner’s and NYR Organic to warn British citizens of the dangers of growing GM crops and urge them to speak out before it’s too late.

The warning comes at a critical time as the European Parliament will vote in January whether member states can decide for themselves to grow GM crops or not. If this legislation is passed, the UK could see the planting of commercial GM crops within the next six to eighteen months.

The letter, which highlights the problems and challenges which American farmers, consumers and others have faced over nearly two decades of growing and eating GM crops, was delivered to Downing Street today by a delegation which included fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, chef Val Warner and MPs, Zac Goldsmith and Michael Meacher. It also included the two campaigners from the US who helped drive the letter, Pamm Larry and Diana Reeves, as well as Beyond GM Director, Pat Thomas, who coordinated the effort in the UK.

The fully referenced letter, signed by groups and individuals representing some 57 million members and supporters, argues that GM crops have never delivered on their promises to increase yields and profits or to decrease pesticide use. In fact, they have done the opposite with the cost of growing GM crops now greater than conventional crops in the US and pesticide use 24% higher amongst GM farmers than non-GM farmers planting the same crops.

The environmental harm caused by this increased herbicide has also led to the destruction of vital insect and bee populations. The population of the Monarch butterfly, for example, has dropped by over 80% in some parts of the US as the herbicide, Roundup, kills milkweed – the Monarch’s key food source. It also damages soil structure and makes essential micronutrients unavailable to the plant and therefore our food.

The Americans warn that after nearly 20 years of use, GM ingredients are now everywhere in their food chain – over 70% of all processed foods in the US contain them. As a result, traces of glyphosate – the active ingredient in Roundup – have been found in high levels in the breast milk and urine of American mothers as well as in their drinking water. The levels in the breast milk were around 1,600 times higher than what is currently allowable in European drinking water.

The American signatories believe their experience of using what they call a “failing agricultural technology” serves as a warning to other countries about to journey down the same road. They conclude that GM food

“has never really been about public good, or feeding the hungry, or supporting farmers. Nor is it about consumer choice. Instead it’s about private, corporate control of the food system”.

Actress, Susan Sarandon says:

“Instead of bringing certainty and security, GMOs have raised more and more worrying questions about their effectiveness, their necessity, and even their safety. Polls show that the majority of US citizens – and in fact citizens everywhere – either want them labelled or taken out of the food system altogether.”

Activist attorney Robert Kennedy Jr says:

“An informed and engaged public is one of our greatest weapons against widespread threats to health and environmental justice. Initiatives like The Letter from America highlight clearly the problems we have faced in the US in the 17 years we have been planting and eating GMOs.”

Vivienne Westwood, who was one of the British celebrities who helped deliver the petition to Downing Street this morning says:

“GMOs are a democratic issue. They are a massive, unethical experiment in human and environmental health. People are voicing legitimate concerns about how they and their families will be affected by eating them, how planting them will affect the environment and biodiversity, how forcing them on developing countries will disempower and impoverish farmers there and most of all why, if so many unanswered question remain about GMOs, our government is continuing to try and force them on the British public.

Pat Thomas, the campaign director for Beyond GM says:

“The American experience of GMOs shines a light on how our own food future will unfold if we continue to race pell-mell down the road to a genetically modified Britain. It also can teach us about the importance and effectiveness of public engagement. Biotech companies have spent a lot of time and money sidelining public opinion, and turning the GM debate into an abstract and academic affair. It’s time the public was brought back into the ‘public debate’ about what they eat, and what they feed their children, and it’s time politicians and regulators started listening.”

Iceland: Wall Street Shocked as Justice Comes to Banksterville*

By Tyler Durden

Easy MoneyThe impossible is possible. Never say never. Wall Street bankers are staring agog at headlines coming from Europe where, in Iceland, the former chief executive of one of the largest banks in the country which was involved in crashing the economy in 2008 has been sentenced to jail time. As Valuewalk reports, in receiving a one year prison sentence, Sigurjon Arnason officially became the first bank executive to be convicted of manipulating the bank’s stock price and deceiving investors, creditors and the authorities between Sept. 29 and Oct. 3, 2008, as the bank’s fortunes unwound, crashing the economy with it. It appears he was as shocked by the verdict as Wall Street-ers are, “this sentence is a big surprise to me as I did nothing wrong.” It was likely all for the people’s own good…

Some thought it would never happen. But in Iceland, the former chief executive of one of the largest banks in the country which was involved in crashing the economy in 2008 has been sentenced to jail time.

Iceland banker the first to manipulate bank’s stock price

In receiving a one year prison sentence, Sigurjon Arnason officially became the first bank executive to be convicted of manipulating the bank’s stock price and deceiving investors, creditors and the authorities between Sept. 29 and Oct. 3, 2008, as the bank’s fortunes unwound, crashing the economy with it.  Landsbanki was one of three banks that had tallied nearly $75 billion in debt before the final curtain was drawn.

What, me guilty? was the bank executive’s response upon learning of his fate. “This sentence is a big surprise to me as I did not nothing wrong,” Arnason was quoted as saying in a Reuters article after he learned of his punishment.  Amason had not decided if he was going to appeal the decision to the supreme court, as the appeal process might take longer than his sentence.

Other Iceland bank executives also convicted

The Reykjavik District Court had lopped off nine months of Arnason’s sentence, saying they were suspended.  Other bank executives involved in the situation were convicted: Ivar Gudjonsson, the former director of proprietary trading at the bank, along with Julius Heidarsson, a former broker at the bank. They each received nine-month sentences and six of those nine months were immediately suspended by the court.

All pleaded innocent to the charges, as the the fallout from the 2008 crisis continues to this day in the north Atlantic island and around the world.  As a sign of thawing in the crisis, Reuters reported that earlier in the week Landsbanki, the successor to the failed Landsbankinn, agreed to extend a deadline to restructure bonds to the end of the year. If a bond restructuring agreement is reached, it could help the government lift capital controls which were imposed due to the crisis.

It appears he needs to ‘donate’ more to the nation’s leaders.
