Five Common Growing Pains of Spiritual Ascension*

Five Common Growing Pains of Spiritual Ascension*

By Steven Bancarz

For those of us who find ourselves travelling on a spiritual path, it can be very common to experience a few “growing pains” on our journey.  Things which hurt beyond belief, but which always result in more clarity, wisdom, and a deeper perspective.  Identifying these common struggles of the spiritual path can be helpful. It makes us realize we are not alone, and that there are certain archetypal energies that all people on a spiritual path end up encountering.

If you are experiencing some of these struggles, have faith. The change you are experiencing is occurring because you are becoming a more authentic and connected person.  The pain you feel is just a temporary catalyst that will propel you into your new self.

As you change, it’s natural to grieve the loss of aspects of your former self.  Don’t be attached to your old identity in your mind.  The key to deal with growing pains on the path to spiritual ascension is to accept the flow as life and to work with reality, not against it.

Here are 5 common growing pains of spiritual ascension we all experience:

A boy finding himself away from citylife1) Losing friends

This one can be especially traumatic for those people.  Becoming more spiritually connected can change a lot about you very quickly, and this can affect some of your closest friendships.  It may cause some of your friends to turn on you, distance themselves from you, and even bully you.

Before hand, perhaps you were willing to engage in behaviours that now just seem wrong to you, such as gossiping, complaining, or competing for the top position in your pack of friends. It’s also likely that the topics you used to discuss with your friends now make you feel empty, and that you now prefer to discuss issues that your friends don’t understand or are uninterested in.  They may even call you crazy for it.

Unfortunately, these differences in perspective and behaviour can sometimes be enough to rip apart friendships that have meant a lot to you over the years.  Realize that all you can do is be true to yourself and allow the cards to fall as they may.  You do not have the power to convert anyone to your way of thinking, and you don’t have to.  All you can do is be genuine and sincere, and the universe will connect you with people who are more aligned with your new vibration.

2) Misunderstandings in the family

While most family members are less likely to walk away from you because you are on a spiritual path, they are still quite likely to be confused by your change in perspective.  If you have parents who are religious, they may even accuse you of being lost and separate from God.  Everyone knows that meditation is just another way Satan can whisper in your ear, right?

Stay authentic, and take responsibility for the energy you bring into each conversation.  Just keep being yourself and the “new you” will become more familiar to your loved ones.  In my own journey, my family members actually started to become curious and started asking me questions, and now their minds are so much more open than they used to be. Remember, it’s better to be misunderstood for being who you are than it is to hide yourself for fear of what your family may think.  It’s your life to live, not theirs.

3) Being mocked and ridiculed by society

While many people are on a conscious spiritual path in the world today, there are many who remain in the dark about their true nature. Becoming more spiritually minded can expose you to quite a bit of ridicule for being different.  Being mocked, made fun of, and bullied is just a part of being away in a world that is asleep.  This is probably the most common growing pain of spiritual ascension.

This why you often hear people making jokes about people who eat organic food, meditate, lucid dream, carry gemstones, or talk about spiritual issues and philosophies.  If you were to talk about these things thousands of years ago, crowds would gather in the street and people would be excited to share their experiences. Because of the emotional consequences of not going along with the herd in our day and age, it can be difficult to even come out of the closet with your spiritual beliefs.

The judgement that you may feel from being “out” can be uncomfortable initially, but trust that as time progresses it will become less frequent and easier to deal with.  As we become more comfortable with our differences, we project that comfort out into the world, and we receive less judgement as a result of our confidence.  The universe stops sending us experiences which hit on our weaknesses once we turn them into our strengths.  Stay authentic, sincere, and in integrity.  And when people make fun of you when you are in a space like that, it just makes them look mean and silly.

Losing energy - as fatigue sets in one may respond by abusing drugs. Insomnia is another symptom at this stage.

Losing energy – as fatigue sets in one may respond by abusing drugs. Insomnia is another symptom at this stage.

4) Career changes

When perspective changes, sometimes what worked before just isn’t a good fit for you anymore.  Suddenly, the job that you may have leaned on for many years feels empty, or even worse, damaging to your soul.  During a spiritual awakening, you may come to the realization that your job is not acting as an extension of your soul.

With some, a career change may be intentional and planned out, but with others, it may come in the form of being suddenly fired or laid off.  When you are a vibrational mis-match with how you are spending most of your hours during the week, it’s only a matter of time before either you or your employer decide it is in everyone’s best interest if you leave your job.

It can be very painful to have a sudden transition like this.  But have faith that it happened for a reason. Much more happiness and fulfilment lays ahead for you.  Life is too short to spend anything other than doing what makes your soul come alive.

Surrender to the universe, and it will carry you exactly where you need to be spiritually as well as professionally.

 5) Loneliness

Loneliness is a natural by-product of spiritual ascension.  Naturally, as our relationships, jobs and lifestyles change, so will our ability to confide in the things we used to confide in.

In times like these, it’s good to reach out to the spiritual community.  Take a yoga class or attend a meditation retreat.  The universe will set you up with new framework to support your new lifestyle, but you have to make an effort to create that for yourself and meet the universe half way.

The good news here is that when you do find people on the same path, you can rest assured that they will provide friendships and acquaintances that are genuine and uplifting, whereas before you may have been settling for some relationships that were fueled on competition and negativity.  You may notice you have less friends, but more of the right kind.   An increase in quality, and a decrease in quantity.

In the mean time, practice getting to you yourself.  Start practicing meditation, and learn to be comfortable with being on your own.  Learning how to be alone with about being lonely is essential to dealing with any sense of loss that has arose since you started pursuing your new path.

Although finding your spiritual self can be a fulfilling and enlightening experience, there will be some changes that will be challenging to adjust to.  Not everyone will experience all of these adjustments, but if any of these apply to you, just know you are not alone.  Be patient with the universe, and stay in integrity to the new version of yourself.  The rest will take care of itself.

If you are experiencing spiritual growing pains, realize that at the end of the day they are simply signs that you are growing and evolving.  All of the things that are listed in this article are actually signs that you are on the right track.

So don’t think that you have done anything wrong or that you are making improper choices by adopting a new lifestyle that seems to make people around you confused.  Stay true to yourself and in time, you will mature into a more comfortable and stable position.  When you align your emotions, thoughts, and intentions with bettering yourself and exploring your true nature, the universe always conspires for you to give you the life you need.

Be patient, and trust the universe.  In order to grow into new skin, you have to first shed the old one.

The Higher Intelligence of the Past: 2,000 Year Old Earthquake Detector Still Works*

The Higher Intelligence of the Past: 2,000 Year Old Earthquake Detector Still Works*

By Tara MacIsaac

In 132 A.D., Zhang Heng presented the Han court with the world’s first seismoscope. A 2005 replica was even said to detect earthquakes with the same precision as modern instruments.

Historical accounts tell of its great accuracy, though its precise design remains a mystery. The outer appearance and functioning is known for certain, but its inner workings remain open to speculation. The replicas have been built on the best guesses from such speculation.

The most common theory states that a pendulum inside the copper urn would move when an earthquake occurred, even if the quake was hundreds of miles away. The pendulum would hit a system of levers to open the mouth of one of the eight dragons on the outside of the urn. Each dragon’s mouth contained a bronze ball. This ball would roll out, landing in the mouth of a toad figurine below, making a loud clang.

A historical account described the ringing in the toad’s mouth to be so loud it could rouse the whole court from sleep, wrote Dr. Jan Pajak of the Wellington Institute of Technology in a paper prepared for the 2005 International Conference on Sensing Technology.

The dragon that had its mouth opened would be the one pointing in the direction of the earthquake. The eight dragons pointed east, west, north, south, northeast, northwest, southeast, and southwest respectively.

The invention was initially met with scepticism in its day, though Zhang was already a renowned scientist, selected to be the court’s chief astronomer. In 138 A.D., a bronze ball sounded the first alarm.

It indicated that the earthquake happened west of Luoyang, the capital city. No one had felt a quake in Luoyang, so the alarm was ignored, but a few days later, a messenger from west of Luoyang arrived in the city to report that his region had experienced an earthquake. The earthquake had occurred at the same time Zhang’s machine sounded the alarm. This city of Longxi, some 300 miles away, lay in ruins.

Feng Rui and Yu Yan-Xiang of the Institute of Geophysics, China Earthquake Administration, deduced in 2006 that this first earthquake detected by Zhang’s machine was magnitude 7 in Longxi, with an epicentre at Tianshui on Dec. 13, 134 A.D.

The machine’s purpose was to detect earthquakes in distant regions so aid could be deployed. It worked until the death of its inventor, but apparently the device was so complex only Zhang could keep up with its maintenance effectively.

The seismoscope was called Houfeng didong yi, the “instrument for measuring the seasonal winds and the movements of the Earth.” Modern attempts at replication have met with varying success, and all were built on the use of inertia, a principle integral to modern seismographs.

Dr. Pajak explains this use of inertia:

“In this principle an earthquake shakes a frame of an instrument, so that this frame is displaced in relation to an inertial pendulum, while this displacement is registered as the indication of an earthquake.”

Attempts to Replicate

In 1939, Japanese scientist Akitsune Imamura built a replica showing the device to be effective, according to Hong-Sen Yan in the book “Reconstruction Designs of Lost Ancient Chinese Machinery.”

However, wrote Hong-Sen,

“in some circumstances the direction of an earthquake’s epicentre was found to be at right angles to the dropped ball.”

In 2005, several scientists from various disciplines at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Museum, and China Earthquake Administration declared a new replica to be the best yet.

“It represents our current utmost understanding of the ancient Didong instrument,” said Teng Jiwen, a research fellow at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, according to a report from that time by state-run media People’s Daily.

The replica reportedly responded to the reproduced waves of four actual earthquake events in Tangshan, Yunnan, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and Vietnam. Tested against modern earthquake graphs, the replica was shown to be accurate and its shape fit that described in historical texts.

The Inner Workings

Hong-Sen cited a passage from a contemporary biography of Zhang, the first design specification left to us in historical texts:

“There is one pillar (du zhu) in the centre of the interior and eight transmitting rods near the pillar.”

Transmitting rods would refer to channels through which some object would be transported, explained Hong-Sen, but nothing more specific is written about the rods.

Dr. Pajak has another theory. He wrote that the machine has been described in historical texts as containing water, as having water flow out of the dragons’ mouths like a fountain.

He hypothesized that the water flowed smoothly (as opposed to turbulently), a characteristic known as laminar flow. The shape of the chamber (parabolic) was designed to deflect vibrations coming from the earthquake zone. The deflected vibrations would focus on the inlet of the pipe in the appropriate direction, causing the water that had been washing around the metal ball to push the ball out of the dragon’s mouth.

Robert Reitherman, executive director of the Consortium of Universities for Research in Earthquake Engineering, expressed skepticism concerning the historical accounts of the machine’s accuracy in his book, “Earthquakes and Engineers: An International History.”

He wrote:

“At a close distance, the whole instrument would be so severely shaken that the balls on multiple perches would have jostled loose. … At a [far] distance, ground motion from an earthquake does not leave clear footprints indicating the direction from whence those vibrations came, because the ground shakes in various directions rather chaotically by the time it reaches the instrument.”

If this machine worked as well as historical accounts describe, and if the successes of some modern replicas hint that the machine could work with such precision, it seems Zhang’s genius remains out of our grasp for now.

Some of Zhang’s other accomplishments include calculating pi (π) as being between 3.1466 and 3.1622, refining a time-keeping device know as an “inflow clepsydra,” and applying hydraulic motive power to rotate an astronomical instrument known as an armillary sphere.

During the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644 CE), a period considered to be the golden age of Islam in China, Muslims fully integrated into Han society by adopting their name and some customs while retaining their Islamic mode of dress and dietary restrictions.  – Yusuf Abdul Rahman

An ethnic Han Chinese, and a Muslim, Zhang Heng (78-139) was of the Han Dynasty Chinese politician, historian, philosopher, poet, mathematician, astronomer, geographer, cartographer, painter, sculptor, and inventor. Zhang Heng used geometrical formulas to create a more accurate estimation for pi (π). He created the ancient seismograph over 1,700 years before a similar instrument was invented in Europe. He also created the world’s first celestial globe rotated by hydraulic motive power.

According to his biography Chang wrote 32 papers in science, philosophy and literature. In one poem he described his attitude towards research. The poem “Thinking About Mysteries,” describes how his mind left his body and travelled through space so that it could see the Earth as a sphere.

U.S. on Russia’s Borders Trying to Provoke War*

U.S. on Russia’s Borders Trying to Provoke War*

By Stephen Lendman

Thousands of US boots on the ground, tanks and other military hardware near Russia’s borders represent Obama’s latest affront.

On March 21, a provocative Dragoon Ride 1,100 show-of-force US convoy began moving through six Eastern European countries – en route to their Vilseck, Germany home base.

They’ll continue through April 1. Along the way, they’ll position US heavy weapons close to Russia’s borders.

US Army European commander General Ben Hodges is involved in Kiev’s war on Donbass. Earlier he lied claiming 12,000 Russian troops operate in Ukraine.

None crossed its borders any time during months of conflict. Hodges knows it. So do his Pentagon superiors, the White House, Congress and media scoundrels claiming otherwise.

Obama; Dragoon Ride and Atlantic Resolve show-of-force may be prelude for direct confrontation with Russia ahead.

Washington’s so-called European Reassurance Initiative and related efforts support its NATO allies and partners.

It’s part of ongoing US provocations confronting nonexistent “Russian aggression.”

The Pentagon established six new front line command centers in Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Romania – all former Soviet republics or Warsaw Pact countries.

RT International asked State Department press office director Jeff Rathke to explain Washington’s hypocritical double standard.

He lied claiming no US criticism exists. He ignored frequent anti-Russian comments expressed by department spokeswoman Jen Psaki.

Thousands Of Russians marching for Ukraine

Last August, she called Russian aviation exercises “provocative and only serve to escalate tensions.” She hypes nonexistent “Russian aggression.”

Last week, Washington pressured Vietnam to prevent Russian aircraft from refueling on its territory.

An unnamed State Department official said Washington “urged Vietnamese officials to ensure that Russia is not able to use its access to Cam Ranh Bay to conduct activities that could raise tensions in the region.”

Last month, US surveillance aircraft provocatively flew over disputed South China Sea islands.

AP correspondent Matt Lee asked Rathke “(w)ouldn’t US and NATO maneuvers on Russian borders, at a time when the West and Russia are at odds over the crisis in Ukraine, also raise tensions?”

Rathke lied saying “(w)e would disagree with that.” US global military activities are hugely provocative.

Challenging Russia heads toward direct confrontation. US policy reflects madness.

Ukraine may be the flashpoint igniting the unthinkable. Washington replacing democrats with Nazis began things.

Followed by naked aggression against Donbass residents rejecting fascism for good reason.

Then Washington willfully sabotaging multiple Russian spearheaded ceasefire initiatives assured continued conflict.

Minsk II is dead. Washington killed it. The price of imperial arrogance is resumed full-scale war at Obama’s discretion – perhaps heading toward setting the entire conflict ablaze.

Preventing it requires Western European leaders breaking with Washington on Ukraine policy – allying with Russia for regional peace and security.

The alternative is potentially devastating war on their soil. On Thursday, European Council President Martin Schulz called diplomacy “the only viable solution” to resolving Ukraine’s conflict.

Minsk was agreed on to do it. Sergey Lavrov said it’s “based on a philosophy…that the crisis in Ukraine is not a Russian-American problem, but a European one, and should be treated that way…”

“The EU (needs) to deal with problems at its borders in keeping with its own interests, rather than someone’s across the ocean” trying to sabotage best efforts for peace and stability.

Kiev puppets take orders from Washington. Obama wants war, not peace.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry accused Kiev of willful MInsk violations. It failed to withdraw heavy weapons from front line positions.

It repositioned them instead. “The claims of Ukrainian authorities that all of its heavy weapons have been withdrawn are once again proving to be bluff,” the ministry said.

Poroshenko lied claiming otherwise. He reneged on granting Donbass autonomous self-rule status. He’s maintaining economic blockade.

He’s acting on orders from Washington. Russia alone keeps providing desperately needed humanitarian aid.

Donetsk People’s Republic’s Parliament Speaker Denis Pushilin warned about the likelihood of escalated conflict remaining “extremely high at any moment.”

Lavrov called for more Normandy format four-party talks to try preventing what increasingly looks likely.

On Thursday, Russia submitted a draft Security Council resolution on full implementation of Minsk terms agreed on. It’s unclear if Washington will block it.

Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) leader Igor Plotnisky said Kiev “tread(s) water employing all possible political tricks – by approving the laws nobody of them is going to fulfill and by making populist political statements about our territory which we have allegedly occupied.”

Ceasefire is pure illusion. Kiev commits multiple daily shelling violations.

Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Defense Ministry reported 34 shellings in the last 24 hours.

“The enemy attacked both positions of militias and residential areas,” it said. Gorlovka, Donetsk and Lozovoye were shelled.

Washington wants conflict escalated, not ended. Expect its junta stooges to oblige.

Ukrainian Oligarch Donated $10 Million to the Clinton’s*

Between 2009 and 2013, including when Mrs. Clinton was secretary of state, the Clinton Foundation received at least $8.6 million from the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, according to that foundation, which is based in Kiev, Ukraine. It was created by Mr. Pinchuk, whose fortune stems from a pipe-making company. He served two terms as an elected member of the Ukrainian Parliament and is a proponent of closer ties between Ukraine and the European Union.

In 2008, Mr. Pinchuk made a five-year, $29 million commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative, a wing of the foundation that coordinates charitable projects and funding for them but doesn’t handle the money. The pledge was to fund a program to train future Ukrainian leaders and professionals “to modernize Ukraine,” according to the Clinton Foundation. Several alumni are current members of the Ukrainian Parliament. Actual donations so far amount to only $1.8 million, a Pinchuk foundation spokesman said, citing the impact of the 2008 financial crisis.

The Pinchuk foundation said its donations were intended to help to make Ukraine “a successful, free, modern country based on European values.” It said that if Mr. Pinchuk was lobbying the State Department about Ukraine, “this cannot be seen as anything but a good thing.”

– From the Wall Street Journal article: Clinton Charity Tapped Foreign Friends

When I first came across the title to this article, I didn’t think much of it. In fact, I almost didn’t even click the link thinking it was just a repeat of a prior expose I highlighted in the post: Hillary Clinton Exposed Part 2 – Clinton Foundation Took Millions From Countries That Also Fund ISIS.

Fortunately, I did decide to take a look and pretty soon my jaw absolutely hit the floor. Although the Wall Street Journal didn’t play up the connection, I was stunned to see that of all the oligarchs connected to foreign governments who donated to the Clinton Foundation while she was Secretary of State, Ukraine was at the very top. I thought this to be strange, but as I read on I just couldn’t believe how connected the main donor was to the current regime in power. Considering this is the main geopolitical hotspot on earth right now, many, many questions need to be asked.

Let’s also recall some of the more shady aspects of the new government in Ukraine by taking a look back at the post, Made in the USA – How the Ukrainian Government is Giving Away Citizenships so Foreigners Can Run the Country. Here are a few excerpts:

Claims that the new government in Ukraine is nothing more than a Western puppet Parliament have been swirling around consistently since February. Nevertheless, I think it’s very significant that the takeover is now overt, undeniable and completely out in the open. Nothing proves this fact more clearly than the recent and sudden granting of citizenship to three foreigners so that they can take top posts in the government.

At the top of the list is American, Natalie Jaresko, who runs private equity fund Horizon Capital. She will now be Ukraine’s Finance Minister, and I highly doubt she will be forced to pay the IRS Expatriation Tax (one set of laws for the rich and powerful, another set of laws for the peasants). For Economy Minister, a Lithuanian investment banker, Aivaras Abromavicius, will take the reins. Health Minister will be Alexander Kvitashvili of Georgia.

Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State with Petro-Poroshenko in the Uraine

Now read the following from the WSJ:

The Clinton Foundation swore off donations from foreign governments when Hillary Clinton was secretary of state. That didn’t stop the foundation from raising millions of dollars from foreigners with connections to their home governments, a review of foundation disclosures shows.

Some donors have direct ties to foreign governments. One is a member of the Saudi royal family. Another is a Ukrainian oligarch and former parliamentarian. Others are individuals with close connections to foreign governments that stem from their business activities. Their professed policy interests range from human rights to U.S.-Cuba relations.

All told, more than a dozen foreign individuals and their foundations and companies were large donors to the Clinton Foundation in the years after Mrs. Clinton became secretary of state in 2009, collectively giving between $34 million and $68 million, foundation records show. Some donors also provided funding directly to charitable projects sponsored by the foundation, valued by the organization at $60 million.

Bill Clinton with #Peace Corp Volunteers in Ukraine, June 2000

The foreign donors reached by The Wall Street Journal said they contributed to the foundation for charitable, not political reasons.

Former President Bill Clinton promised the Obama administration the foundation wouldn’t accept most foreign-government donations while his wife was secretary of state. The agreement didn’t place limits on donations from foreign individuals or corporations.

During Mrs. Clinton’s time at the State Department, Mr. Schoen, the pollster, registered as a lobbyist for Mr. Pinchuk, federal records show. Mr. Schoen said he and Mr. Pinchuk met several times with Clinton aides including Melanne Verveer, a Ukrainian-American and then a State Department ambassador-at-large for global women’s issues. The purpose, Mr. Schoen said, was to encourage the U.S. to pressure Ukraine’s then-President Viktor Yanukovych to free his jailed predecessor, Yulia Tymoshenko.

Mr. Schoen said his lobbying was unrelated to the donations. “We were not seeking to use any leverage or any connections or anything of the sort relating to the foundation,” he said.

Please Schoen, don’t piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining.

The Pinchuk foundation said its donations were intended to help to make Ukraine “a successful, free, modern country based on European values.” It said that if Mr. Pinchuk was lobbying the State Department about Ukraine, “this cannot be seen as anything but a good thing.”

Oh certainly, all you have to do is take a brief look at Ukraine to see what a wonderful thing it has been.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia wasn’t allowed to give to the foundation while Mrs. Clinton was at the State Department. But several prominent Saudi Arabian businessmen gave millions.

Victor Dahdaleh, a London businessman whose foundation contributed between $1 million and $5 million, has ties to Bahrain’s state-owned aluminum company. He was the intermediary between the state-owned Aluminum Bahrain B.S.C. and Alcoa World Alumina, which is majority owned by AlcoaInc. Last year, he was acquitted in London on charges of bribing Bahraini officials to secure contracts for the Alcoa firm. In the U.S., the Alcoa affiliatepleaded guilty last year to corruption charges, and the Justice Department said an investigation into the matter remains open.

Rilin Enterprises, part of a privately held Chinese construction, infrastructure and port-management company, made a $2 million foundation pledge. The company was founded and is run by Wang Wenliang, a member of the National People’s Congress, China’s formal parliamentary body. Mr. Wang didn’t respond to a request to speak with him during the annual meeting earlier this month.

Mr. Wang is the former municipal official of Dandong, a city of 2.4 million in the Liaoning province on China’s border with North Korea. His company now controls that city’s port, a major trade route into North Korea.

The Clinton Foundation was unaware Mr. Wang was a delegate to the NPC, said a foundation official.

One of Mr. Wang’s firms was a contractor for the new Chinese Embassy in Washington.

In today’s fraudulent and rigged oligarch economy, this is what we call a nice “return on cronyism.”

Coffins Delivered to the White House*

On Saturday, March 21, a dramatic anti-war assembly rallied at the White House and then wound through the streets of Washington, D.C., delivering symbolic flag-draped coffins to the headquarters of war contractors like Honeywell Corporation, the AIPAC offices and finally at the Senate Office Building at the U.S. Capitol.

Saturday’s action was organized by the ANSWER Coalition and was the culmination of four days of anti-war actions and teach-ins organized by a broad coalition of organizations under the umbrella of Spring Rising – an Antiwar Intervention in D.C. Spring Rising was initiated by Cindy Sheehan and many organizations joined together to organize the series of events, including the ANSWER Coalition, Veterans for Peace, World Can’t Wait, CODEPINK, National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance, World Beyond War, Military Families Speak Out, United National Antiwar Coalition, International Action Center, Party for Socialism and Liberation, and more.

The March 21 demonstration received considerable media attention from national and international media outlets, including CNN, Associated Press, Reuters, Al-Jazeera and a wide range of alternative media.

Hundreds of protesters on Saturday marked the 12-year anniversary of the start of the Iraq War by rallying in front of the White House and then marching to the Capitol, rejecting an “endless war.”

The group carried mock coffins, dropping them off in front of the White House and near lawmaker offices at the Russell Senate Office Building near the Capitol. Along the way, they also dropped coffins in front of various defense contractor offices.

The “Spring Rising” event was organized by the Answer Coalition, which characterized the rally as “an antiwar intervention.”

Speakers at the rally expressed concern about U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq, its drone strikes in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia, and its “provocation” in Russia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe. The assembled warned against war with Iran..

The group was peaceful, and there were no arrests.

Simultaneous March 21 demonstrations were held in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and other cities in the Midwest.

Held on the 12th anniversary of the U.S. “Shock and Awe” invasion of Iraq, the groups announced their plans to intensify opposition to the Congressional Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) request from President Obama, which they describe as an authorization for this and future presidents to carry out endless war and endless bombing in Iraq, Syria and other countries in the Middle East under the pretext of fighting ISIS.

Brian Becker, the national director of the ANSWER Coalition, explained why the anti-war movement was marching in opposition to President Obama’s request for congressional authorization for endless war:

“Each of the last four U.S. presidents has carried out the bombing of Iraqi cities and towns. That’s 24 years of devastating bombing strikes against a country and a people that has never threatened or harmed the people of the United States. Each U.S. administration has used a different rationale for why the United States must bomb Iraq, with the latest explanation being the need to fight ISIS. But ISIS only exists today because of the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq. Dropping more U.S. bombs on Iraqis will not solve the problems caused by the earlier U.S. bombs. The United States is in fact the primary cause of the fragmenting of Iraq. Endless war is only a prescription for the growth and exercise of a malignant militarism that is has come to dominate the foundational political structures of the United States.”
