Conscientious Scientists Make an Int’l Appeal on the Wide-scale Problem of Wi-fi*

It’s sad really. Those who seek to control us/do control us have known about the role Wi-Fi plays in basically ‘short-circuiting’ us for years, that’s why is was publically available, but we don’t see it, and continue to beg for more… like the impending doom that befalls us in every aspect of our lives as the NWO takes us for everything got because we have forgotten to think and act for ourselves, like the ‘climate change’ myth that will complete this circuit of control of weather, time and space…

By RFSAFE

Dr. Martin Blank, PhD of Colombia University leads a group of concerned scientists in an important appeal about the safety of Wi-Fi and other electromagnetic signals.

To put it bluntly, these devices are causing cell damage and ending many of our lives prematurely, and these scientists want you to know about it.

“The time to deal with the harmful biological and health effects is long overdue. To protect our children, ourselves and our ecosystem, we must reduce exposure by establishing more protective guidelines.”

Dr. Blank is representing 190 international scientists in an Appeal to the UN, UN Member States and the WHO on the risks of electromagnetic fields emitted by telecommunications and utility technologies.

Call for UK to Pay India Reparations for Colonial-era Damage*

Call for UK to Pay India Reparations for Colonial-era Damage*

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has backed a politician’s calls for Britain to pay reparations to India for the damage it caused during colonial rule.

Modi made the remarks after a video made by Shashi Tharoor, a Congress party member speaking at the Oxford Union, was posted on social media and became an instant success.

“Speeches at the Oxford Union have long provoked debate, as the comments made by MP Shashi Tharoor have done. We are focused on the future and how we strengthen ties with our Indian partners, including through Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the UK this autumn,” an FCO (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) spokesperson told RT.

Speaking to the Indian parliament in Delhi on Thursday, Modi said Tharoor had encapsulated the sentiment of “patriotic Indians.”

“Tharoor’s speech reflected the feelings of patriotic Indians on the issue and showed what impression one can leave with effective arguments by saying the right things at the right place.”

Steve Uncles from the English Democrats Party told RT that Britain already contributes “quite a bit to India” in terms of foreign aid, adding that it’s “totally inappropriate for such a prosperous nation now as India.”

“And the reason that India is a prosperous nation is, basically the people of England helped to set up India into a country. We provided their legal system; we provided the infrastructure in terms of their roads and their railways; we provided their governance in terms of the way that the country is run and ordered. All of the intellectual property rights on that if we are going to start trying to score points – all of that is due back to the people of England.”

The video, in which Tharoor made a passionate speech at the university claiming India was entitled to financial compensation after centuries of exploitation and foreign rule, was viewed more than 1.5 million times on YouTube and reported on in the Indian press.

Britain’s rise for 200 years was financed by its depredations in India. We paid for our own oppression. It’s a bit rich to oppress, maim, kill, torture and repress and then celebrate democracy at the end of it,” Tharoor said at the debate.

He further said Indians had “paid for [their] own oppression” by buying British goods, arguing that by the turn of the 20th Century they were the biggest buyers of British products in the world.

Tharoor said he was “touched and grateful” by the support he had received from the Indian prime minister.

The politician has, however, been disciplined by his party leader Sonia Gandhi for praising Prime Minister Modi’s economic initiatives, and his position as party spokesman was revoked in October 2014.

He has previously said that Britain solely took control of India for its own benefit and used the country to create overseas wealth.

“As far as I am concerned, the ability to acknowledge a wrong that has been done, to simply say sorry, will go a far, far, far longer way than some percentage of GDP in the form of aid,” he said.

“What is required, it seems to me, is accepting the principle that reparations are owed,” he added.

However, Modi did not state whether he agreed with the demand for an apology.

Modi, who leads the Bharatiya Janata party, became PM in 2014 in a landslide victory, and was elected on the promise he would invigorate the economy, which had flagged under Congress party rule.

He is due to visit Britain later in 2015, but the dates of the trip have yet to be finalized.

US-Backed Racist to Run in Myanmar’s Elections*

US-Backed Racist to Run in /’s Elections*

By Tony Cartalucci

Meet Ko Ko Gyi. He is a US-funded agitator working hard to reinstate Western hegemony in Myanmar (still referred to by its British imperial nomenclature “Burma” by the Western press) since at least the late 1980’s. Now, he seeks to take the next step, running for office in upcoming elections, but in order to do so, the West will now have to cover up his dark past and his controversial present.

His “88 Generation Students” group is described by the BBC as:

The 88 Generation Students group is synonymous with the long struggle for democracy in military-ruled Burma.

Its name comes from the 1988 uprising, when troops opened fire on mass student demonstrations in Rangoon, leading to the deaths of thousands of people.

Myanmar’s version of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) called “The Association for the Protection of Race and Religion,” rallies in the streets. Organized by Aung San Suu Kyi’s “saffron monks,” this group and many others including Ko Ko Gyi’s 88 Generation Students, find among themselves two common denominators: one of pro-genocidal racism aimed at Rohingya, many of whom have lived in Myanmar for generations, and two, they are all substantially funded and backed by the US State Department.

In addition to the 1988 protests, he and his group would join others, including throngs of saffron-clad “monks” during the so-called “Saffron Revolution” in 2007. Together with Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) party, these three groups form a trifecta of foreign-funded socio-political destabilization, subversion, and serve together as a vector for Western special interests seeking to re-enter and despoil the Southeast Asian state’s economy, resources, and sovereignty.

There is, however, another factor, all three groups share – a passionate, racist hatred of the Rohingya people – many of whom have lived in Myanmar for generations. This racist hatred has manifested itself not only in words, but also in violence. Mobs led by Suu Kyi’s “saffron monks” have raided Rohingya communities, hacking to death their inhabitants and burning to the ground their homes. Those who survive end up in refugee camps which are likewise raided by Suu Kyi’s followers, or driven into the sea in such large numbers they are sometimes referred to as the “boat people.”

Thugs dressed as “Buddhist monks” take part in violent political rallies to support US-proxy Aung San Suu Kyi. When they aren’t throwing bricks at local police, they are hacking to death Rohingya’s and burning down their homes.

Ko Ko Gyi has previously articulated his views on the Rohingya. In a report titled, “‘Trauma Will Last Long Time’: Ko Ko Gyi,” posted by the US State Department-funded propaganda clearinghouse “Irrawaddy” it states that:

In early June, Ko Ko Gyi accused “neighbouring countries” of fuelling the unrest in Arakan State, and stated categorically that the 88 Generation group will not recognize the Rohingyas as an ethnicity of Burma. He said that his organization and its followers are willing to take up arms alongside the military in order to fight back against “foreign invaders.”

The Rohingya people have been living in Myanmar for centuries, with many being brought in generations ago by the British Empire as part of a wider strategy of divide and conquer across South and Southeast Asia. Ko Ko Gyi’s comments would resonate well with his ideological counterparts in the Ku Klux Klan in the United States who are often fond of stating how African-Americans aren’t truly Americans and should be “shipped back to Africa.”

To drive home the point of Ko Ko Gyi’s absolute and utter racism, he was also quoted as saying:

Genetically, culturally and linguistically Rohingya is not absolutely related to any ethnicity in Myanmar.

Ko Ko Gyi says his followers are “willing to take up arms” against the Rohingya, but it seems that his followers and his “saffron” allies have already long ago resorted to violence in their bid to “racially cleanse” Myanmar. It is difficult to distinguish Ko Ko Gyi and his 88 Generation Students group from the Ku Klux Klan, Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Party, and other political factions around the globe and throughout human history that denigrated and dehumanized their enemies based on genetics, culture, linguistics, and ethnicity.

US Supports Myanmar’s Rabid Racists
Myanmar’s opposition, composed of Suu Kyi’s NLD, her “saffron” supporters, student groups like 88 Generation, and a myriad of NGOs are all funded, directed, and supported by the US State Department through extensive backing via the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and other corporate-financier organizations including convicted financial criminal George Soros’ Open Society Foundation.

First the US and its racist proxies drive the Rohingya into the sea, then when they turn up on the shores of neighboring nations like Thailand, the West uses the crisis as political leverage against Bangkok. Just as the British used the Rohingya among other groups generations ago to divide and conquer much of the world, it appears the West is doing so today.

The British-based “Burma Campaign UK” published an extensive report detailing US and British backing of these networks in a report titled, “FAILING THE PEOPLE OF BURMA? A call for a review of DFID policy on Burma.” Not only does the report expose immense support for these groups, it argues that despite the vast amounts of funding being channelled to them, it is not enough.

The report details the specifics of each organization involved, including the National Endowment for Democracy (NED):

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED – see Appendix 1, page 27) has been at the forefront of our program efforts to promote democracy and improved human rights in Burma since 1996. We are providing $2,500,000 in FY 2003 funding from the Burma earmark in the Foreign Operations legislation. The NED will use these funds to support Burmese and ethnic minority democracy-promoting organizations through a sub-grant program. The projects funded are designed to disseminate information inside Burma supportive of Burma’s democratic development, to create democratic infrastructures and institutions, to improve the collection of information on human rights abuses by the Burmese military and to build capacity to support the restoration of democracy when the appropriate political openings occur and the exiles/refugees return.

The role of US State Department-run Radio Free Asia (RFA) and Voice of America (VOA) is also discussed in detail, including the revelation that US foreign policy specifically supports and actively promotes Aung San Suu Kyi and “her” agenda, stating:

Both Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Free Asia (RFA) have Burmese services. VOA broadcasts a 30-minute mix of international news and information three times a day. RFA broadcasts news and information about Burma two hours a day. VOA and RFA websites also contain audio and text material in Burmese and English. For example, VOA’s October 10, 2003 editorial, “Release Aung San Suu Kyi” is prominently featured in the Burmese section of VOAnews.com. RFA’s website makes available audio versions of 16 Aung San Suu Kyi’s speeches from May 27 and 29, 2003. U.S. international broadcasting provides crucial information to a population denied the benefits of freedom of information by its government.

The US also pours vast resources into organizations affiliated with Aung San Suu Kyi, including “Prospect Burma”:

The State Department provided $150,000 in FY 2001/02 funds to provide scholarships to young Burmese through Prospect Burma, a partner organization with close ties to Aung San Suu Kyi. With FY 2003/04 funds, we plan to support Prospect Burma’s work given the organization’s proven competence in managing scholarships for individuals denied educational opportunities by the continued repression of the military junta, but committed to a return to democracy in Burma.

Another active appendage executing US foreign policy is convicted financial criminal George Soros and his organization Open Society. Open Society not only funds and coordinates with the above mentioned “Prospect Burma,” but also directly funds specific activities, literally training an army of subversion meant to return to Myanmar and overthrow the government:

Our assistance to the Open Society Institute (OSI) (until 2004) provides partial support for a program to grant scholarships to Burmese refugee students who have fled Burma and wish to continue their studies at the undergraduate, or post-graduate level. Students typically pursue degrees in social sciences, public health, medicine, anthropology, and political science. Priority is given to students who express a willingness to return to Burma or work in their refugee communities for the democratic and economic reform of the country.

NED is also cited as behind the creation of a vast propaganda network including the New Era Journal, the Irrawaddy, and the Democratic Voice of Burma (DVB) radio, all posing as “independent” media sources despite the fact they are in reality fully-funded by the US government.

Additionally, a 2007 Reuters article titled, “Myanmar information window closing, says dissident,” would reveal another propaganda outlet created by and maintained not by the people of Myanmar, but by the US State Department. Reuters reported:

The United States helps fund Mizzima through its National Endowment for Democracy, one source of the generals’ assertions that the protests are the result of outside agitation.

Reuters would also report that the Editor-In-Chief of US-funded Mizzima was (and still is) Soe Myint, a terrorist guilty of hijacking a passenger liner – a terrorist act committed before receiving US funding to start his propaganda outfit. Reuters would report:

Myint and a friend hit the headlines in 1990 when he hijacked a Thai International Airways plane to protest the junta’s rejection of elections won by pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy. He used fake bombs made out of soap cases to hijack the plane flying from Bangkok to Yangon with 220 passengers on board. The two friends were released in 1991 after a three-month jail term and were recognised as refugees in India.

It appears that in addition to backing a movement predicated on racial purity and genocide, the United States and their British partners are also literally funding convicted terrorists.

As Ko Ko Gyi Runs for Office, Western Press Covers Up His Racism

This then returns to the subject of Ko Ko Gyi. Reuters has now reported that he and members of his 88 Generation Students group will be running in the place of many NLD members including Suu Kyi herself. The report titled, “Myanmar ’88 student leader joins Suu Kyi’s party to run in polls,” states:

“Ko Ko Gyi and some other members from the ’88 Generation students group will run in the next general election representing our party,” Nyan Win, a spokesman for Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy (NLD), told Reuters.

Reuters claims that Ko Ko Gyi was a “leader of student protests in Myanmar in 1988 that grew into a nationwide pro-democracy movement.” Nowhere is Ko Ko Gyi’s racist views and calls for genocide mentioned – and considering how long he has held these views and the verifiable violence these views have manifested themselves in, it seems more than an oversight by Reuters and instead an intentional cover up.

By placing Ko Ko Gyi in a vacuum isolated from his bigotry, racism, and violence, Reuters affords him legitimacy he and his Western sponsors will be unable to contest upcoming elections without. Should Ko Ko Gyi and the rest of the West’s proxies fail to win the elections, their perceived legitimacy will be necessary when they form street mobs and begin carrying out provocations across the country.

Should the global public understand that Suu Kyi and her political allies are foreign-funded bigots, racists, and genocidal thugs, little they do and little done to them in return will invoke sympathy. Again, just as in Syria where the West is backing Al Qaeda, in Ukraine where the West is backing literal Nazis, and now in Myanmar, the absolute worst has been brought together within a targeted nation to create a violent, loud front with which the West can smash local institutions and overwrite them with neo-liberal alternatives that answer to Washington, Wall Street, London, and Brussels.

They’re Not Baby Parts, They’re ‘Products of Conception’*

In a rare interview with Nikola Tesla he described evil as “In this century, the disease had spread from Earth in the Universe”. We have lost all respect for life… the callous attitude towards abortion is just one of the manifestations.

Twinfoetusmain

By D.C. McAllister

After the release of two undercover videos by the Center for Medical Progress showing Planned Parenthood executives haggling over selling organs from aborted babies, OB/GYN Jen Gunter is complaining about the term “baby parts.” Writing for The New Republic, she says it’s better to use the term “products of conception.” While she thinks that’s just an accurate medical term, it’s really just dehumanizing babies to prop up the abortion industry.

“These are not ‘baby parts,’” Gunter says.

“Whether a woman has a miscarriage or an abortion, the tissue specimen is called ‘products of conception.’ In utero, i.e. during pregnancy, we use the term ‘embryo’ from fertilization to 10 weeks gestation and ‘fetus’ from 10 weeks to birth. The term baby is medically incorrect as it doesn’t apply until birth. Calling the tissue ‘baby parts’ is a calculated attempt to anthropomorphize an embryo or fetus. It is a false image—a 10-12 week fetus looks nothing like a term baby—and is medically incorrect.”

In response, The Federalist cofounder Sean Davis sent Gunter a tweet asking the logical question,

“Are you not also a ‘product of conception,” Dr. Gunter?

If so, why is your liver a ‘body part’ but a younger person’s isn’t?”

His question got him blocked.

Gunter, ironically the author of “The Preemie Primer, a guide for parents of premature babies,” doesn’t want to have a dialogue. Why would she? She’s a medical doctor who—as she describes it—is used to cutting skin, sawing bones, and lifting the uterus out of the abdominal cavity and then putting it back in. No big deal. Doctors do that kind of thing all the time. They’re desensitized to things other people find upsetting.

So when it comes to abortion and harvesting organs, it’s nothing to get excited about. Just a blob of tissue. Just products of conception. She doesn’t mention crushing above and below, or using any crunching techniques, but she probably wouldn’t have a problem with that because, well, she’s a “medical professional,” and they’re used to that sort of thing.

Products of Conception Are Babies

Despite Gunter’s arrogant scolding, the fact of the matter is you can call something by any name you like, but it doesn’t change the fact of what it is. A human liver is a human liver. A human brain is a human brain. It doesn’t matter if it’s inside the uterus one minute (call it a fetus) or outside the next (presto, it’s a preemie baby); it’s still human.

But Gunter and the butchers at Planned Parenthood don’t want to use that term or any designation that will prick their darkened consciences. They don’t want to “anthropomorphize the fetus.” Of course, that makes perfect sense. If they were ever honest about the humanity they’re crushing, crunching, grinding, and dissecting, they’d be monsters. They’d be psychopaths. But they’re not psychopaths. They’re stable, normal human beings. To remain that way, they have to use terms like “products of conception.” They have to, in a word, dehumanize.

Other doctors have done the same. Physicians and scientists in Germany called the Jews by another name, stripping them of their humanity. They were labeled Untermenschen—sub-humans. By dehumanizing the Jews, the German doctors could carry out all forms of atrocities with the same calm Gunter describes.

Dehumanization Is Necessary for Atrocities

The lead prosecutor in the Nuremberg trials began with this chilling statement that brings to mind the abortion industry today:

“The defendants in this case are charged with murders, tortures, and other atrocities committed in the name of medical science. The victims of these crimes are numbered in the hundreds of thousands. . . . To their murderers, the wretched people were not individuals at all. They came in wholesale lots and were treated worse than animals.”

I’m sure the Nuremberg doctors would have approved of the term “products of conception.” In the name of science and research, they deprived the subhuman Jews of oxygen, infested them with malaria, exposed them to mustard gas, and made incisions in their subhuman flesh to simulate wounds. They even inserted pieces of broken glass or wood shavings into them, tying off blood vessels, and introducing bacteria to produce gangrene. All for the love of science.

The road to atrocity is paved with dehumanization. It’s necessary. It’s a normal part of all genocide, and it’s exploited and propagated by propaganda, by the use of seemingly harmless terms like products of conception.

“All political and nationalist propaganda aims at only one thing,” Aldous Huxley wrote,

to persuade one set of people that another set of people are not really human and that it is therefore legitimate to rob, swindle, bully, and even murder them.”

It goes against our nature to kill a person like ourselves, so we have to dehumanize others to overcome the normal human aversion to murder.

“Most people would hesitate to torture or kill a human being like themselves,”

Huxley wrote.

“But when that human being is spoken of as though he were not a human being . . . we lose our scruples.”

Babies Need Development, But It Doesn’t Mean They’re Not People

Gunter might want to stand behind the shield of science and say Planned Parenthood isn’t harvesting baby parts, but her words ring hollow. That’s because they’re mere words. The reality of what they represent is what matters. And what they represent is human life.

Don’t tell me that the life growing inside a woman is a mere product to be crushed, cut up, and sold to the highest bidder. I know what it’s like to feel my baby inside of me, to see through an ultrasound the tiny hands, the eyes, the soft curve of her head, the twitches of her mouth. My children were as much babies inside me as they were when they breathed their first breath of air. That’s because they’re human beings, from the moment of conception.

When I was about 12 weeks pregnant with my first child, I was walking down the aisle of a grocery store when blood began to flow, hot and fast down my legs. I hurried to the hospital, fearing the worst, and the doctor examined me. I was having a miscarriage. He said I’d have to have a D&C to remove the tissue. As I lay there with my hand on my abdomen, praying for my child to be alive, the doctor’s words sounded so calm, so cold. I didn’t even know how to respond.

“We should do an ultrasound first, just to be sure,” the doctor said as I stared at him, my chest tight with suffocating sadness. I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t even cry.

Slowly, they rolled me into the examining room and turned on the machines. They spread jelly on my stomach, and the ultrasound screen lit up with its grainy gray tones. I closed my eyes, not wanting to see. I’d been there before – lost another child earlier that year. I’d seen my baby’s tiny body not moving, the heartbeat that had once been fast and steady, silent and still.

“I can’t believe it,” the nurse said. My eyes snapped open. There on the screen was my baby. His hands tucked under his chin, his head bent, his legs pulled up to his chest, and his little feet swishing back and forth. The sound of his heartbeat filled the room. A strong, steady swoosh. I grabbed my husband’s hand and wept, the grief giving way to joy. Together, we peered through that window into my baby’s gentle, quiet world, our hearts full of gratitude and humility. He was alive. No miscarriage. No loss. Only life. Human life. The memory of the love that filled me in that moment is a constant reminder of what it means to be human.

No doctor is going to tell me that my baby was just a product of conception, a non-human mass that can be chopped up simply because a majority of people in this country have chosen to dehumanize children in the name of science or convenience. Gunter and others at Planned Parenthood can play word games in their dehumanization scheme to avoid being monsters. But despite their self-deluded lies, they are monsters. In the end, the people they have dehumanized the most are themselves.

France’s highest constitutional authority on Thursday approved a sweeping, controversial new surveillance law that greatly expands the government’s spying powers, despite widespread human rights concerns.

Making only minor changes to the legislation, which was approved by Parliament in May, the Constitutional Council ruled on Thursday that the bill generally aligns with the French constitution—even as privacy and civil liberties groups continue to call attention to its egregious rights violations.

“By validating almost all surveillance measures provided in the Surveillance Law adopted on 25 June, the French Constitutional Council legalizes mass surveillance and endorses a historical decline in fundamental rights,” said La Quadrature du Net, a Paris-based digital rights and civil liberties organization.

“Only international surveillance has been deemed to be non compliant to the Constitution.”

The law gives French intelligence agencies power to tap phones and hack into computers; sweep up and analyze metadata of millions of civilians; and plant secret microphones, cameras, and ‘keystroke loggers’ in the homes of “suspected terrorists”—all without approval from a judge.

It also gives the government the power to authorize surveillance for reasons as vague as “major foreign policy interests” and preventing “organized delinquency.”

The government justified the bill by invoking recent attacks in Paris, which saw 17 people killed by gunmen in January at the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo and a kosher deli. President Francois Hollande’s move to have the law approved by the Constitutional Council is “unusual,” the Guardian writes. But while it is rare, Hollande’s motives are clear—the decision by the Council ensures that the law will not be challenged as illegal in the future.

By approving the bill, the Council “has disavowed its role as protector of fundamental rights and liberties,” La Quadrature continued.

“By refusing to implement effective control over the intelligence services, it is rubber-stamping a historic step back for privacy and freedom of communication, thus undermining the very foundations of democracy. This evening the reason of state was brutally imposed over the rule of law.”

One of the most controversial provisions in the bill requires internet service providers and telecommunications companies to install equipment, referred to in previous debates as “algorithmic black boxes,” that sift through internet traffic and metadata for so-called “terrorist” activity and alert authorities when flagged. Opponents have warned that portion of the bill will “create permanent surveillance,” as Communist Senator Cécile Cukierman said during a June debate—a charge which officials deny.

The law comes into effect just two days after the United Nations Committee for Human Rights released a report warning that the bill “grants overly broad powers for very intrusive surveillance on the basis of vast and badly defined objectives” and calling on France to “guarantee that any interference in private life must conform to principles of legality, proportionality and necessity.”

Amnesty International France chief Geneviève Garrigos said on Friday,

“This law is in flagrant violation of the international human rights to privacy and free speech. Someone investigating the actions of the French government or French companies or even organizing a protest, could be subjected to extremely intrusive forms of surveillance. Mass surveillance tools, including black boxes, would put the internet communications of the entire population and beyond within reach of the French authorities.”

And Privacy International, which submitted recommendations this month to the UNHCR on the right to privacy in France, said the bill legalized hacking. “Its use by any state authorities, particularly intelligence agencies, must be highly regulated to protect against abuses of power. Yet the bill makes no provision for judicial authorisation or oversight of hacking powers,” the organization wrote.

U.K. Muslims with 7/7 survivor Gill Hicks Call for Counter Radicalization Together*

The sad news is that many Muslims don’t see they are pawn in a wider agenda, and instead fall for the labels that they haven’t actually earned…

7/7 survivor, Gill Hicks, (second from right) who lost both legs in the attack, is an outspoken advocate for dialogue and cohesion in the UK.

Young Muslims from Leeds have united in one voice with a survivor of 7/7 to call on the Government to use real dialogue rather than rhetoric in formulating its counter-radicalization policies.

Gill Hicks, who lost both her legs in the 2005 London bombings carried out by four young men – including three with links to Leeds – returned to the city last night to speak at the launch of a major report by the Leeds Muslim Youth Forum.

She had earlier made an emotional visit to the city on the 10th anniversary of the atrocity.

The report, put together from workshops and interviews with 100 Muslim youngsters from Leeds, makes 12 key recommendations on increasing dialogue and grassroots work with youngsters, many of whom might be at risk of radicalization from groups like ISIS.

Launched a day after the Prime Minister announced a series of new counter radicalization measures as part of a five-year Government plan – and blamed a lack of integration for leaving some young people vulnerable to the poisonous ideology and propaganda of ISIS – the Muslim Youth Speak: 10 Years On report urges policy makers to engage directly with the country’s young Muslims and learn the lessons that it claims have not been learned a decade after the 7/7 attacks.

Miss Hicks, who gave an emotional keynote speech at the launch attended by hundreds of people, said: “We are in a roomful of people who might have been nine or ten years old [when 7/7 happened], and growing up in the shadow of the events of July 7, 2005 is something I would like to talk to them further about, how they’ve ended up on this journey to be a part of a group that is absolutely dedicated to making a difference.

“It’s very important for me be the segue at events like this, an embodiment of what can be good and what we also should remain optimistic about.

“Many people have been doing so much good work since July 7, 2005. It’s not only inspiring, but for me it’s also reaffirming.

“What I represent is the connection to the event. I’m a living fact of what happened, and of what can happen when we really look at the brilliance of humanity rather than looking at something that might be hate-filled or looking for retribution.”

She praised the work of the Leeds Muslim Youth Forum, which has been re-launched in the wake of the ISIS crisis to help inform grassroots projects and provide a safe platform and voice for many youngsters.

Asked if decision-makers could learn from the forum, and from dialogue rather than political rhetoric, Miss Hicks said: “Absolutely. I’m an active believer of that.

“But it’s vital that the action is the right type of action. What I am sure about is that we need to have everybody signed up to that page – young people, all of us.

“I don’t want young people to feel the burden of having to make the difference.”

Opening the conference, Imam Qari Mohammed Asim, from Leeds Makkah Mosque, said the young people from the forum were “incredibly inspiring and motivating” and it was “important to channel that energy, that dynamism”.

He stressed that with increased political violence and instability across the globe in the name of Islam, some young British Muslims face “additional challenges” and risks. He said there is a “pressing need to reclaim the narrative about young people” and to promote concepts of “collective compassion and social action”.

“One of the key things that extremists do is call people to action,” he said.

“The counter narrative that we need to develop cannot just be to call people to inaction.
