U.S. Soldier: “The Real Terrorist Was Me and the Real Terrorism is This Occupation”

U.S. Soldier: “The Real Terrorist Was Me and the Real Terrorism is This Occupation”

A powerful confession by US soldier Mike Prysner on his experience fighting in Iraq.

“Our real enemies are not those living in a distant land whose names or policies we don’t understand; The real enemy is a system that wages war when it’s profitable, the CEOs who lay us off our jobs when it’s profitable, the Insurance Companies who deny us Health care when it’s profitable, the Banks who take away our homes when it’s profitable. Our enemies are not several hundred thousands away. They are right here in front of us.” – Mike Prysner

Former Iraqi Transport Minister Salam al-Maliki underlined that Washington is on the same side with the ISIL, and urged his country’s popular forces to expedite uprooting the terrorists in Al-Anbar province.

“There are compelling evidence which prove that the US has supplied the ISIL with weapons and intelligence,” Al-Maliki told FNA on Wednesday.

He noted that the recent statements of the US officials indicate that they are willing to prolong the battle for winning back Anbar province.

Al-Maliki, however, said that the Iraqi forces are preparing for fresh operations in Fallujah and Ramadi in Anbar province.

Last month, a senior Iraqi intelligence official revealed that the US helicopters drop weapons and other aids for the ISIL terrorists in the Western province of al-Anbar.

“The fighters present at the forefront of fighting against the ISIL always see US helicopters flying over the ISIL-controlled areas and dropping weapons and urgent aids for them,” the official who called for anonymity told FNA.

Yet, he said the helicopters could have also been sent from Turkey or Israel.

He added that in addition to dropping aids, the helicopters transfer the ISIL ringleaders and wounded members from the battleground to some hospitals in Syria or other countries which support the terrorist group.

The official cautioned that such assistance further prolongs the conflicts in Anbar, adding that when the Iraqi army and popular forces purge the terrorists from Anbar province, the US helicopters will transfer the ISIL ringleaders to other regions to prevent the Iraqi forces’ access to ISIL secrets.

Scores of Iraqi soldiers were killed by the ISIL in two deadly ambushes in Anbar province on Friday.

The restive region has long been a flashpoint of fighting, where the terrorists are largely in control.

Forces stationed in the province continue to be on alert, and were instructed in a visit by Defense Minister Khalid al-Obaidi to proceed with “caution and precision,” so as to avoid “unjustified losses.”

In a relevant development in March, a group of Iraqi popular forces known as Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi shot down the U.S. Army helicopter that was carrying weapons for the ISIL in the Western parts of Al-Baqdadi region in Al-Anbar province.

Also in February, a senior lawmaker disclosed that Iraq’s army had shot down two British planes as they were carrying weapons for the ISIL terrorists in Al-Anbar province.

“The Iraqi Parliament’s National Security and Defense Committee has access to the photos of both planes that are British and have crashed while they were carrying weapons for the ISIL,” al-Zameli said.

Remains of another Ancient Human Species Found in S. Africa Cave*

Scientists at University of Witwatersrand say the species, Homo naledi, may have buried its dead like modern humans.

Archaeologists in South Africa have announced the discovery of a new human species, a find they say could change our understanding of our ancestors.

Researchers at Witwatersrand (Wits) University said on Thursday that the species, which they named Homo naledi, appeared to have intentionally buried its dead in graves – a feature that was once thought to be limited to modern humans.

The scientists at Wits say they have recovered parts belonging to at least 15 individuals of the same species.

“With almost every bone in the body represented multiple times, H naledi is already practically the best-known fossil member of our lineage,” said Professor Lee Berger, research professor in the Evolutionary Studies Institute at Wits.

The remains were found in a cave known as Rising Star in the Cradle of Humankind, about 50km northwest of the South African city of Johannesburg.

The fossils, which included those of children, adults and elderly members of the species, were found in a room deep underground the cave network.

Researchers said the room had been isolated from other chambers and was not open to the surface.

“What’s important for people to understand is that the remains were found practically alone in this remote chamber in the absence of any other major fossil animals,” said Paul Dirks of James Cook University in Queensland, Australia, the lead author of the paper on the context of the find.

The scientists said there was no sign the bodies had been brought to the room by any other cause but human contact.

“We explored every alternative scenario, including mass death, an unknown carnivore, water transport from another location, or accidental death in a death trap, among others,” said Berger.

“In examining every other option, we were left with intentional body disposal by Homo naledi as the most plausible scenario.”

Interment of the dead, a characteristic the findings seem to show, indicates ritualised behaviour, traditionally thought to be a uniquely modern human trait.

Age unknown

The species though biologically related to humans appears to have several important features that make it distinct.

Homo naledi has fingers more curved than modern humans, suggesting it was adept at climbing, and the most complete foot sample is on the smaller end of what is found on modern humans.

The university said the species has a lower foot arch, and studies of the whole skeleton showed Homo naledi was able to walk upright, as well as climb trees.

It was difficult to figure out how old the remains were because of the lack of fossil records from other animals directly associated with the find.

The university hopes to release information on the age of the remains after further research.

Israel Embassy in Cairo Reopens after 4-year Hiatus*

Israel’s embassy in Cairo has reopened Wednesday, four years after it was stormed by protestors in the wake of Egypt’s 2011 uprising.

The reopening ceremony took place in the embassy’s headquarters in Cairo in the presence of Israel Ambassador Haim Koren, deputy chief of protocol of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Stephen Beecroft and Director General of Israel’s Foreign Ministry Dore Gold, Al-Ahram reported.

“Egypt will always be the biggest and most important state in the region, and it is no wonder that the Arab world called Egypt Um al-Dunya, mother of the world.” Jerusalem Post quoted Gold Wednesday.

The Israeli embassy was shut down the same day (Sept. 9) four years ago following a mob attack after six Egyptian policemen were killed in an Israeli cross-border operation against militants in Sinai. Media outlets reported the Israeli embassy staff were not inside the building during the attack.

In November 2012, former President Mohamed Morsi issued a decision to withdraw Egypt’s Ambassador to Israel following the Israeli airstrike on Gaza Strip while in June 2015, Egypt appointed Hazem Khairat a new ambassador to Israel.

The relations between Egypt and the Israeli regime have been growing since Sisi took power in the Arab country in 2014 after orchestrating a military coup against Morsi, Egypt’s first democratically elected president, a year earlier.

Egypt recently launched a project to flood the area along its border with the Israeli-besieged territory of the Gaza Strip to destroy the underground lifeline tunnels linking Egypt to the Palestinian territory.

In mid-June, the Egyptian military said it had demolished nearly 1,430 underground tunnels in 18 months.

The Egyptian army claimed that the tunnels were “used by terrorists and criminals” to smuggle weapons to militants in the Sinai Peninsula. The World Food Program (WFP), however, said in a report in February 2014 that the tunnels have represented “the main supply and commercial trade route for goods into Gaza” since 2007.

West Fabricated Reports about Russian Troops in Syria – Syrian Minister*

Statements about the Russian military’s presence in Syria are false and were fabricated to create an illusion that the Syrian government has completely lost control over the country, Syria’s Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi told Lebanese television channel Al-Manar in an interview.

False reports about Russian troops in Syria were intentionally fabricated by Western intelligence services and then fuelled by the media, al-Zoubi said.

“There are no Russian troops in Syria. And there is no Russian military activity — neither by land, by sea nor by air,” the Syrian minister told Al-Manar.

By creating these lies, the West wanted to create the illusion that Russia was directly interfering in the Syrian conflict and that the Syrian state “weakened to the point of resorting to its friends directly,” al-Zoubi said.

Earlier the Western media exploded with reports about Russian forces allegedly fighting alongside with Syrian government forces against Islamic militants.

Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011 as government forces loyal to President Assad have been fighting several opposition and radical Islamist militant groups, including Nusra Front and ISIS/Daish.

A number of Western countries have long supported what they call “moderate” rebel fighters, while Russia has repeatedly stated that Assad is the legitimate president of Syria, and that the people of Syria must choose their government and leaders without outside intervention.

U.N. Raises Replacement Migration for Eurasian Countries with Aging Populations*

U.N. Raises Replacement Migration for Eurasian Countries with Aging Populations*

From the U.N.

United Nations projections indicate that over the next 50 years, the populations of virtually all countries of Europe as well as Japan will face population decline and population ageing. The new challenges of declining and ageing populations will require comprehensive reassessments of many established policies and programmes, including those relating to international migration.

Focusing on these two striking and critical population trends, the report considers replacement migration for eight low-fertility countries (France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, United Kingdom and United States) and two regions (Europe and the European Union). Replacement migration refers to the international migration that a country would need to offset population decline and population ageing resulting from low fertility and mortality rates.
