September 12, activists calling themselves the Genetic Crimes Unit (GCU) shut down shipping and receiving access points at Monsanto’s Oxnard seed distribution facility located at 2700 Camino Del Sol. By peacefully blockading the exit and access points, the group effectively shut down the distribution of genetically engineered (GMO) seeds for a day.

Monsanto is the largest producer of GMO seeds and is being called out for their genetic crimes by a network called Occupy Monsanto. Today’s protest is the beginning of a series of over 65 different autonomous actions that officially start on September 17, the anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Actions are planned in countries throughout the world, including the US, Germany, Canada, India, Paraguay, Philippines, Poland, Argentina, Australia, Spain, Russia, and Japan. More info as well as video available for media use of today action can be found here.

After occupying all three shipping and receiving entrances to the Monsanto facility using flashy theatrics, including a car with a giant “fish-corn” on top of it and a 6-foot high jail cell complete with someone dressed up like the CEO Hugh Grant of Monsanto inside. Eventually after 5.5 hours the fire department was called in and 9 anti-GMO activists were arrested and charged with trespassing.

“The reason I am occupying Monsanto and willing to put myself at risk of arrest is because Monsanto has genetically engineered food crops to contain novel untested compounds that result in more weed killer sprayed on our food, without informing consumers. Unlike most industrialized countries including every country in Europe, Japan and even China, in America right now there are no labels on our food informing us whether we are eating GMOs or not. We have a right to opt out of this experiment: it’s not up to chemical companies what I feed myself and my family. Monsanto has bought and sold both parties and has handpicked henchmen at FDA and USDA making sure we are kept in the dark. Monsanto is also currently fighting the California Prop 37 GMO labeling initiative that would give consumers the right to know if they are eating GMO foods. said GCU member Ariel Vegosen.

The GCU arrived onsite wearing bio-hazmat suits and with giant banners saying the “99% V. Monsanto” and “Seminis and Monsanto bringing weed killer GMO food to your table.” Next week there will be more protests all over the nation.

“In the name of Wall Street profits, chemical corporations such as Monsanto genetically engineer crops to withstand high doses of their toxic weed killers that contaminate our food and water, and have not been proven safe. We deserve to know what we are eating and we should put the GMO crops back in the lab and off the kitchen table.  The US chemical lobby has so far made sure Americans are kept in the dark and we are tired of inaction by Obama, “ said GCU unit member Rica Madrid.

“We are here today in civil disobedience because we believe strongly that we have no other option,” said GCU unit member David Pillar. “Its time for healthy food now.”

There is one member of God’s creation that does not need to go through the expensive process of a lawsuit to seek justice

The Western corn rootworm might not be a tsunami, an earthquake, or a volcanic eruption, but it gets right to the heart of the matter. It does have to suffer set backs like the U.S. Congress, or the E.U., the rootworm just pursues a course of peaceful protest knowing full well that the U.S. biotechmological company that is threatening the global food supply can’t do anything about it… at least for a while!

The western corn rootworm has been busy chomping away at that toxic stuff referred to as food, Monsanto GM corn, which packed with Cry3Bb1 protein has been unable to kill off those damn pests. Instead the western corn rootworm is eight times more likely to survive than the year before, according to

elevenfold survival rate on the genetically modified corn compared to a control population. That’s eight times more than the year before, when the resistant population was first identified. While man’s imagination has Superman, nature has a new Superbug that has already begun to turn GM farmers on their heads – farmers who have grown lazy by planting GM corn, instead of carrying out the gae old practice of crop rotation, which would have prevented crop infestation!

When governments forget the people after the elections, and make the law irrelevant, it is time for the people to make justice overcome the law. Companies like Monsanto only serve to advance a government agenda, overt and covert, disregarding sovereignties, the voters, the citizens and the needs of the earth. They blindly believe that this world is made for them, while destroying everything in their pathway.

The U.S-based multi-national, agricultural biotechnology Monsanto, one of the leading causes of the fall in the global bee population, hence drop in food production. The 2nd largest producer of genetically modified seeds, foods, the originator of the dangerous chemical Agent Orange, and the world’s leading producer of the chemical glyphosate faces yet another battle against 5 million farmers! Responsible for a farmer suicide every 30 minutes, 5 million Brazilian farmers have taken a lawsuit out against a company that believed itself to be above the law, above the rights of man, and above the laws of nature.

The lawsuit worth 6.2 billion euros (U.S7.7bn) claims that Monsanto has brought these farmers to financial ruin via means of taxation and royalties, meaning once one used a Monsanto GM seed one pays for life as a farmer uses the seeds from the previous harvest, so Monsanto profits!

“Monsanto gets paid when it sell the seeds. The law gives producers the right to multiply the seeds they buy and nowhere in the world is there a requirement to pay (again). Producers are in effect paying a private tax on production.” – Jane Berwanger, the farmer’s legal representative.

The 17,683+ Indian farmers can swear to this, but instead some of these farmers committed suicide by drinking the very same Monsanto insecticide that had made their crops fail!

It was established back in 2006 that Bayer CropScience glufosinate and Monsanto’s glyphosate reduces crop yields,  burns and deforms the rice plants that do survive.

In 2007 and 2008 field studies by the University of Arkansas had established that rice yields were reduced by as much as 80% as a result of glufosinate and glyphosate, and mutated and burned the surviving rice crops.

2008, represented the year of the highest trade in GM crops globally, as well as the 1st year of the global economic collapse. It was also the year that the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that it would no longer publish information about the amount, and the type of agrochemicals used on crops.

The law was on the side of the 5 million Brazilian farmers, as a Brazilian court ruled in their favor, making Monsanto liable to pay the farmers – but that was in 2004. Monsanto has been dragging out the whole process typically through appeals.

However, the problem began with the zeal of farmers wanting to increase their soy crops as a result of GM soy being smuggled into Brazil from Argentina. It was at a time of a national ban by Brazilian authorities becuase the seed is designed to be resistant to Monsanto glyphosate based Roundup herbicide. Once the ban was lifted, GM seeds flooded the Brazilian market with a resulting 85% of Brazil soy crop genetically modified, GM.

Monsanto’s arrogance goes unabated as leadig manufacturer of the synthetic bovine growth hormone. Used to increase milk production by injecting cows, in their defense Director of corporate communications for Monsanto, Phil Angell commented to the New York Times in 1998

“Monsanto should not have to vouch for the safety of biotech food. Our interest is in selling as much of it as possible. Assuring its safety is FDA’s job.”

Well in 2010, Monsanto no longer has that problem, as their former CEO, Michael R. Taylor is the Deputy Commissioner for Foods at the Food and Drug Administration, FDA, and Linda Fisher, former Vice President of Government Affairs for Monsanto Company freelances for the Environmental Protection Agency for example.

By 2011 the Public Patent Foundation filedsuit for 270,000 plaintiffs including organic producers that would invalidate Monsanto GMO patents! The suits also take on:

  • For prohibiting independent research on GMO seeds
  • For using its lobbying power to prevent labeling of GMO products
  • The false claim that GMO seeds improve yeild and reduces the need for pesticides
  • That all GMO seeds fail to past the test of patenting law
  • Monsanto is      double-patenting to offset the fact that the first patents have expired      (1990)

How often do the sins have to be repeated in order for a comprehensive action takes place to protect the helath of consumers and the health of our Earth?

The process is slow, but in process. Shareholders/investors only help to perpetuate the problem like:

With the issue of labeling to confuse consumers more, there will come a point in time, if not already that those who help to promote the use of GM seeds/crops at whatever level, will unknowingly, meet the same end as those who are experiencing debilitating health conditions because they will have no way of evidencing what they are eating – a kind of justice that serves no one!

EU Over-rides French Sovereignty on GM Ban!

EU Over-rides French Sovereignty on GM Ban!

Amid mass US protests against Monsanto in mid-March, France imposed a temporary moratorium on the planting of Monsanto’s genetically modified corn, MON810

Overstepping  French sovereignty, and the rights of the French people, the EU demonstrates its muscle  in favor of the global financial elite vis-avis the corporate world. Forsaking health of the human being, the environment, and European food supply, with a newly elected (socialist) French president, the EU is seeking to secure the interests of U.S-based multi-national, agricultural biotechnology Monsanto, one of the leading causes of the fall in the global bee population, hence drop in food production. The 2nd largest producer of genetically modified seeds, foods, the originator of the dangerous chemical Agent Orange, and the world’s leading producer of the chemical glyphosate.

Depite all the burgeoning evidence, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) declared there is no ‘scientific’ evidence that Monsanto’s GM crops pose a risk to human, animal and environmental health!

As recently as March 2012, a report published in the leading journal Current Microbiology released evidence that glyphosate used in the herbicide Roundup, is changing and destroying micro-organisms in the soil. Some micro-organisms have disappeared completely in areas where Roundup has been used, rendering the soil barren – so what effect will crops harvested from those soils have on animal and human fertility! The report also confirmed what every conscientiosu farmer has been complaining about, the rise in superweeds as a result of Roundup. All rain samples in the U.S. contains glyphosate, which , reduces fertility,  increases risk of cancer and is damaging the DNA chain. This is the case in all countries using Roundup: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, the EU, South Africa,  and the US. If that is not evidence enough why is Monsanto paying U.S$93mn to West Virginia, U.S. that suffered the explosion of one of its plants that released the toxic agent dioxin from herbicide 2,4,5-T?

Why was expert biochemist Arpad Pusztai suspended, his findings distorted and a gag order placed upon him when Pusztai found GM potatoes damaged the immune system and organs  in rats, and then when the gag order was lifted a massive recall on the products concerned because Pusztai went public again!

Former advisor to the U.S., Food and Drug Administration, and professor of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health at New York University, Marion Nestle also wrote a recent report on the problem of the superweeds. In a country where 94% of all soybean crops is GM, 88% of all corn is GM, and 90% of all cotton is GM, 12 million U.S. acres is affected by weed resistance. These weeds can grow up to 6ft in height reduce crop yield, and are resistant to Roundup along with other herbicides – isn’t that enough to make farmers want to give up farming!

Monsanto?

Essentially a corporation that specializes in chemicals promoted through the human need for food, Monsanto. Leading producers of herbicides such as RoundUp, and seeds like DEKALB and Asgrow, as well as Agent Orange and Bovine Growth Hormone.

Monsanto introduced saccharin, caffeine and vanillin to the soft drink industry, and aspirin to the medical industry.

WWII saw a greater ‘liaison’ between Monsanto and the U.S. government in the form of the infamous Manhattan Project – creators of the first nuclear bomb, while running a nuclear facility, Mound Laboratory for the government.

Monsanto’s ‘induction’ into fertilizers came through their acquisition of Lion Oil (petroleum) in 1955. By the 1960s Monsanto was set ready for the enterprising world of war and produced Agent Orange, which contains dioxin. The fatal Agent Orange was sprayed  (72 million liters) of Agent Orange on over one million Vietnam civilians and over 100,000 U.S. troops.

By 1977, Monsanto entered the pharmaceutical industry through a joint venture with Conoco Oil Company.

Monsanto along with, Bill Gates (a large shareholder), the Rockefeller Foundation, the Norwegian government, Syngenta, and the world’s largest holder of GM patents, DuPont/Pioneer Hi-Bred are noe involved in a joint seed project on the remote barren island of Spitsbergen in the Barents Sea. The project Svalbard Global Seed Vault obejective is to store all seed varieties from around the world.

French consumers were not prepared to wait any longer for their health to deteriorate any further for more ‘scientific evidence’ and have decided to take their own health into their own hands, but when the  U.S. Department of Agriculture is ready to consider relabeling of the food preservative sodium benzoate that can cause autism, brain damage, gastrointestinal and personality disorders consumers still have the choice of not buying, but it means being diligent about where ones food comes from, and how it has been processed. As far as possible, ascertain trusted food supplies, and link up with conscientious farmers, and like some Americans grow your own food, although Americans are increasingly being prevented from doing this basic, and natural act!

Just when they thought they had taken control of global food supply to convert into a dangerous unhealthy legacy that would inflict a serious of irreversible health hazards on the global population, Truth rises to the surface again.

Joining China, France, and Peru, Poland bans MON810, (tradename Yieldguard), geneticaly modified maize/corn.  Following protests in Warsaw on March 15 by bee-keepers and supporters, Agriculture Minister Marek Sawicki announced the decision. The protests prove once again that no matter how much The Establishment tries to patent the world resources, its successes rely on the very masses that it seeks to exploit.

Sawicki press statement on MON810 supports recent findings that GM strains are contributing to the dwindling global bee population along with pesticides, which are necessary for food security.

This ban follows on the back of the U.S Congress itself which prevented the nations Food and Drug Administration (headed by a Monsanto exec) from allowing approval of GM salmon, as well as the 7 European countries that blocked the Danish EU presidency on March 09 2012, from approving the planting of GM crops throughout Europe,  and Hungary even burnt thousands of acres of GM crops.

France’s investigation led to a ruling by the Lyon court found that the Lasso weedkiller causes neurological damage,  hence memory loss.

The impact on the American environment, the very country that promotes GM crops has also been devastating where GM crops are extensively grown. The increasing insecticide  use to protect GM crops has been leaching into U.S. waterways that provide drainage for the U.S. corn belt. These insecticides are used as GM crops increasing fail to be safe against the very pests with the insertion of the bacterium Bacillus thuriengensis/Bt.

MON810 was deemed safe by the Europea Commission as far back as 1998 without conditions restrictions, and was approved for use in:

  • Argentina, 1998
  • Australia, 2000
  • Brazil, 2007
  • Canada , 1997
  • China, 2004
  • Colombia, 2003
  • Japan, 1997
  • Korea, 2004, 2007
  • Philippines, 2007
  • South Africa, 1997
  • Switzerland, 2000
  • Taiwan, 2002
  • Uruguay, 2003

The Lie of Solving Global Hunger

“The giant coporations were brought as chemicals for industrial chemical agriculture and they were talking about three instruments to consolidate the food chain. The first was genetic engineering as a way of control. The second was patenting seed and patenting life as a way of control declaring seed to be private property, treating the saving of seed by farmers as a crime, as a theft of intellectul property; and the third was so-called free trade treaties that would drop ordinary people, farmers, growers of their freedom to save seed. The design of Terminator technology to create sterile seed in order to impose, even more dependence of humanity on a handful of corporations is the ultimate step in this.” – Vandana Shiva

The lie that GM crops can solve global hunger was and is perpetuated from the same source as that of the Green Revolution that was just a means to establish factory farming (mass single petro-chemical based crop farming) which has undermined global food security, by reducing soil fertility. Both methods have also resulted in the reduction of small farmer holders and the increase of the global food supply in the hands of the corporate few. That source arose out of the Rockefeller empire, which is alive and kicking today in many forms and conjoins in the land grab of Africa, including unsuspecting countries like Egypt (post January 25 2011) and Saudi Arabia.

Behind the lies we find Bill Gates actively involved in a seed project on the  barren island of Spitsbergen away from public view in the Barents Sea near the Arctic Ocean, some 1,100 kilometers from the North Pole. Gates as investes some U.S$30mn in this seed bank. The partnership includes the

  • Rockefeller Foundation – Initiated the Green Revolution and the Gene Revolution through CGIAR on the notion of genetic purity
  • Monsanto Corporation – U.S agribusiness giant with a strong foothold in South Africa’s seed industry
  • Syngenta Foundation –  Swiss agrichemical giant and member of CGIAR
  • Norwegian government –  owner of the island, but ceded power as far back as 1925
  • DuPont/Pioneer Hi-Bred – U.S agribusiness giant that happens to be the world’s largest owner of GM patents and agrichemcals

The project is called the Svalbard Global Seed Vault,  but is also known as the Doomsday Vault.  Outside of any international treaty, not that national treaties hold any value to the global financial elite, the seed bank is built inside a mountain!  This project aims to collect up to 3 million different varieties of seeds from the entire world. Without full time staff, the Doomsday Vault is run by the Global Crop Diversity Trust, founded by the U.N.s Food and Agricultural Organization, and Biodiversity International.

Why are the investors and benefactors of GM crops and innovations collecting the worlds seeds while pushing the unhealthy , toxic variety, GM seeds, and preventing farmers from having their own seeds through intellectual property rights!

The only statement on the matter is from the Norwegian government itself in a press release:

“…so that crop diversity can be conserved for the future” according to Global Researcher F. William Engdahl.

Why conserve natural seeds for the future, and whose future, if the masses are sick or dying from the side effects of GM crops, and the soil is contaminated with GM bacteria that contaminates other crops. For more developments?  With the U.S. biotech company, Epicyte  2001 announcement that they had  genetically engineered corn which contained a spermicide which made the semen of men who ate it sterile one begins to wonder. Epicyte had partnered with two of the sponors of the Doomsday Vault, DuPont and Syngenta. And then there is the World Health Organization (a Rockefeller Foundation project) which carried out a Tetanus campaign in the 1990s on child bearing women of Nicaragua, Mexico and the Philippines. The vaccine used contained human Chorionic Gonadotrophin or hCG, a natural hormone and a tetanus toxoid carrier stimulated antibodies, the result of which is the woman’s inability to sustain pregnancy.  Norway  had contributed U.S.$41mn towards the abortive Tetanus vaccine.

Of course none of the women were told!

It  might be worth noting that the overpopulation debate arises from the global elite who are concerned about the dwindling global natural resources aas expoused in Agenda 21, which in turn would undermine their wealth and powerbase. i.e. control in the hands of the few.

There are people in the world who value their own wealth and power more than anything else, and they will do anything to maintain it.

“Who controls the food supply controls the people.

“Who controls the energy can control whole continents

“Who controls the money can control the world.” – former U.S. president Henry Kissinger, 1973

Amid mass US protests against Monsanto in mid-March, France imposed a temporary moratorium on the planting of Monsanto’s genetically modified corn, MON810.

“Due to the proximity of the planting season,” said Agriculture Minister Bruno Le Maire along with Francois Fillon, Minister for Ecology and Sustainable Development, in a press release on Friday, authorities “decided to take a precautionary measure to temporarily prohibit the cultivation of maize MON810 on the national territory to protect the environment.”

All prior plantings of MON810, trade name YieldGard, become illegal on March 20.

Headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, Monsanto announced in January that it would not sell genetically modified corn in France due to public opposition.

A growing list of human health and environmental hazards from GM crops has raised concern over bioengineered food and feed, including a literally explosive growth of a “new” microbe on pig manure:

Likely linked to GM feed served to most livestock in the US, methane-filled “foam” growing on pig manure has resulted in several pig farm explosions since 2001, killing thousands of animals.

“And there’s no stopping it,” reports the Daily Mail, “the foam has now started growing on one in four farms across the Midwest.” Scientists believe a new type of bacteria may have developed.

This comports with plant pathologist Don Huber’s discovery last year of a new pathogen associated with spontaneous abortions in livestock, which has been linked to the use of glyphosate, the main ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide.

Modified with a Bt protein to kill insects, MON810 is losing its efficacy in the US. The Western rootworm beetle – one of the most serious threats to corn – has developed resistance to the bacterial toxin in eleven states.

In early March, a group of pro-biotech corn entomologists sent a letter to the US Environmental Protection Agency warning that insect resistance to genetically modified corn can be halted by planting non-GMO seed. The warning will likely go unheeded as the US Dept. of Agriculture announced plans to speed up the process of GM approval by 18 months.

Over the past eight months, the European Commission has approved 11 new transgenic crops. However, EU nations can independently restrict or prohibit the sales of products under certain conditions.

Also on Friday in the US, GM opponents held a nationwide protest against Monsanto. Dressed in hazmat suits, they targeted Congress for its complicity in allowing the dangerous adulterant in the food and feed supply:

Protests continue today across the US, and include an action against WalMart for planning to sell Monsanto’s GM corn this year.

The move to label GMO foods in the US grew stronger last week when 55 Members of Congress sent a letter to the US Food and Drug Admin demanding the label.

In California, a statewide petition drive is underway to put the labeling initiative on the ballot this November. With six weeks remaining to collect one million registered voter signatures, the Label GMOs group got a welcome boost when Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds designed a special seed packet to be used for the campaign.
