Washington D.C. Turned Into “Virtual Fortress” As 250,000 Protesters Descend Upon the City*

By Tyler Durden

Over the past couple of days, we’ve highlighted a couple of the mass protests that are being planned by disaffected Hillary supporters in an effort to disrupt the various Trump inaugural events that get kicked off tomorrow evening.  Perhaps the most aggressive “disruptions” have been planned by groups called “DisruptJ20” and the “DC Anti-Fascist Coalition” and include plans to “paralyze the city” with “clusterfuck blockades” of bridges and tunnels, “stink bombs” in ventilation systems and chaining metro trains to station platforms to shut down rail traffic.  Unfortunately for them, all of their plans were caught on tape by Project Veritas (see “New Video Exposes Anti-Trump Groups Plotting Criminal Acts To Disrupt Inauguration“) so we suspect police will be well prepared.

As Reuters points out this morning, efforts to disrupt the inaugural process will have to evade a massive force of 28,000 security personnel and miles of fencing and roadblocks fortified by sand-laden dump trucks and other heavy equipment.

Washington will turn into a virtual fortress ahead of Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration on Friday, as the U.S. capital braces for more than a quarter-million protesters expected during the Republican’s swearing-in.

About 28,000 security personnel, miles (kilometres) of fencing, roadblocks, street barricades and dump trucks laden with sand will be part of the security cordon clamped around 3 square miles (almost 8 square km) of central Washington.

“If we do have a mass arrest, we’ll be able to get people processed very quickly,” he said in an interview with Washington’s NBC 4 television station.

And, if America’s millennial snowflakes are able to break through the police fortress they will undoubtedly be met by the Wall of Meat recently promised by the “Bikers for Trump” group which has vowed to go “toe-to-toe with anyone that is going to break through any police barriers.”

Overall, the inauguration is expected to draw a crowd of 900,000 with 250,000 of those guests showing up to protest the new President-elect.

Police have forecast that some 900,000 people, both supporters and opponents, will flood Washington for the inauguration ceremony, which includes the swearing-in on the steps of the U.S. Capitol and a parade to the White House along streets thronged with onlookers.

About 30 groups that organizers claim will draw about 270,000 protesters or Trump backers have received permits for rallies or marches before, during and after the swearing-in. More protests are expected without permits.

By far the biggest protest will be the Women’s March on Washington on Saturday, which organizers expect to draw 250,000 people.

Luckily, at least one helpful protest group will be on hand with plans to calm down the rowdy masses by passing out 4,200 doobies.

One Washington inaugural protest will come amid a haze of pot smoke as pro-marijuana protesters show their opposition to Trump’s choice for attorney general, Alabama Republican Senator Jeff Sessions, a critic of pot legalization.

The group plans to distribute 4,200 joints at the inauguration and urge attendees to light up. Possession of small amounts of marijuana is legal in Washington, but public consumption is not.

As we’ve said before, we wish all the protesters the best of luck…we’re sure your dreams of disrupting the democratic process will be well rewarded with a free night’s stay at a local DC jail.

Large numbers of people took to the streets of Egypt on Tuesday evening to protest against the rising cost of housing in the country.

The demonstrations took place in the north-eastern city of Port Said, with reports that thousands of people took part.

The rising cost of housing prices was the main issue driving the demonstration, with protestors reportedly chanting “house us or kill us”.

There are also reports that Egyptians were calling for the removal of the mayor as well as the military more widely.

Local news sites reported a recent increase in rent prices from 7000 Egyptian Pounds ($788) to 47,000 ($5,292).

Videos have emerged on social media showing large masses of Egyptians blocking the main streets of Port Said chanting “we want our rights” and calling for Sisi’s resignation.

The protest comes amid calls for mass protests on 11 November to counter the current political system and the economic and social hardships Egyptians are facing.

Egyptian secret services have reportedly warned the Egyptian President not to take any “harsh decisions” that could further inflame the country before 11 November.

Having met with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) earlier this week, Egyptian Finance Minister Amr al-Garhy said the country would be getting an additional $6 billion in bilateral funding needed to secure a $12 billion IMF loan within a week or two. Sisi has already warned that Egyptians will face challenges – including the prospect of further price hikes and subsidy cuts – in order to secure this necessary funding for the country.

The hashtags #PortSaid and #PortSaidRises were trending in Arabic in Egypt on Tuesday night.

Many social media users referred to the protests as the beginning of another revolution for the country, which has been riven by strife since popular protests toppled longtime president Hosni Mubarak in 2011.

A lack of economic growth and price rises have been an issue at the forefront of Egyptian life in recent months – many have been expressing frustration and anger at the current government, with several videos voicing these opinions going viral in the past week.

Thousands of anti-war demonstrators came out for a rally in Berlin over the weekend to protest the growing militarization of German policies and NATO’s confrontation with Russia over Syria.

On Saturday, protesters marched from Alexanderplatz to the Brandenburg Gate, where the demonstration continued with several speeches. German police estimated the number of participants at over 5,000, while the organizers said between 6,000 and 8,000 showed up.

Protesters said resources wasted on war would be better spent making life better for the people, demanding that Berlin scale down its military budget, withdraw its troops from all foreign missions, and stop selling arms to other governments.

“Our point of view is let’s come back to a politics of cooperation, dialogue and negotiations, we need these politics, not only in Syria and Ukraine, but all over the world in many, many countries,” one protester named Reiner Braun told Ruptly.

“The German government is definitely going the wrong way. Sanctions are not helpful; confrontation are not helpful; German troops in Poland and Ukraine are not helpful, so we are calling for deep change of the German politics against Russia,” he added.

The “Lay Down Your Arms” demonstration was organized by left-wing forces, which distanced themselves from right-wing groups for the latest event.

Left Party MP Sahra Wagenknecht, who was the key speaker at the protest, criticized the continued violence in Syria and the latest collapse of cooperation between Russia and the U.S., which has left the prospect of a peaceful resolution of the five-year-long conflict as distant as ever.

ADL gets a Visit from White and Black Lives Matter Activists*

ADL gets a Visit from White and Black Lives Matter Activists*

A small group of White Lives Matter activists protested outside of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) office in southwest Houston on Saturday where they were met by Black Lives Matter counter-protesters and a heavy police presence.

Holding placards and signs while shouting “White Lives Matter!” the group gathered in front of the Jewish non-governmental organization after ADL allegedly accused the activists of being racist.

“They labelled us a hate group, they didn’t label the Black Lives Matter a hate group. That’s why we are here today, to protest the Anti-Defamation League,” Scott Lacy told local CBS affiliate KHOU news.

Meanwhile, counter-protesters from the Black Lives Matter movement also gathered outside the ADL, a group that is known for its work against anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry.

“Honestly, we just came here to drown them out, protesting and counter protesting is a show of force, showing who can outlast who, when one side is spewing hate, the other side is showing love to each other,” Ashton Woods, from the Black Lives Matter camp told KHOU.

Police had to use metal barricades to keep the two groups separate as tensions ran high at two opposing rallies, and things became personal.

John E. Rebel, from the White Lives Matter group, told Ruptly that “they’re calling Black Lives Matter a civil rights group while they target random white people for acts of violence at their rallies, while they burn cities down and loot, and kill police officers … it’s a garbage argument. Black-on-white crime is way larger in this country than white-on-black crime. But you only hear about white-on-black crime from these people here and from the mainstream medias.”

Saprina, a counter-protester from the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, said, “these people only have to antagonize us. They’re not here because they believe white lives matter, they know they’ve always mattered.”

At one point a Black Lives Matter protester jumped the barrier to attack the White Lives Matter area but Houston police quickly defused the situation. No arrests were made.

“It is a little bit loud, it is a little bit heated, but we are here to keep the peace, let everyone exercise their first amendment rights,” said Asst. Chief George Buenik with the Houston Police Department.

Protests over Secret Jordan-Israel Gas Deal*

Protests over Secret Jordan-Israel Gas Deal*

Around 2,000 protest in the capital, Amman

By Mel Plant

Thousands of protesters swamped the centre of Amman on Friday to demonstrate against the behind-closed-doors signing of an energy deal to bring Israeli gas into Jordan – a move condemned by opponents as a sop to the “Zionist entity” and against Jordanian interests.

Crowds chanted “Raise your voice in Amman” and “the people want national dignity” in protest at the government over the deal, in a demonstration titled “The enemy’s gas is occupation”.

An estimated 2,000 people took part in the peaceful demonstration, which was closed down by police after about half an hour.

The protest follows the signing this week of a deal to import natural gas from the Leviathan field off the coast of Israel between Jordanian National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) and the U.S.-owned Noble Energy, which is a majority partner in extraction.

The “National Campaign to Overturn the Gas Deal with the Zionist Entity”, a broad coalition of civil society groups, activists, lawyers and political groups, is stepping up efforts to protest the agreement despite its finalisation.

Aside from protests, the coalition has also convened a “people’s court” with the purpose of mobilising lawyers to protest the deal on a legal basis.

The group’s campaign slogan, “the enemy’s gas is occupation”, has rapidly spread through Jordanian social media. At a protest outside the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Amman this Tuesday, Middle East Eye talked to Khaled, a member of the campaign and organiser of the demonstration.

“The government is blurring things out and hasn’t been straight since the beginning,” he said. “Its response is that there is no substitute for the gas – but there are many other sources.”

The campaign accuses the government of undemocratic practices. While parliament voted against the deal in December 2014, it was approved in the period before this month’s election when parliament was dissolved.

Members of the public were also not consulted on the matter, though a poll by Nabd al-Balad found that 90% of respondents rejected the deal.

Hisham Bustani, a member of the campaign and writer for 7iber, described the secrecy surrounding the deal to Middle East Eye. The campaign submitted a freedom of information request to see the agreement. The government responded saying that the deal is “secret”.

It has yet to make a public statement about the deal.

We learned about the deal being signed through international media,” said Bustani.

“The government prefers to be an agent for outside capital instead of developing the country and maintaining sovereignty.”

With the country flooded with U.S. aid, Bustani pointed towards U.S. pressure and government, as opposed to national, interests as reasons behind the deal.

“There is some sort of corruption going on,” he said, adding that the price of the Israeli gas is higher than market price – and higher than that which Jordan already imports from Shell to Aqaba.

A private matter

While NEPCO is technically a private company, it is wholly owned by the government.

Khaled, the protest organiser, said:

“They state that because it is a private company they don’t need to go through the government.

“There is a clause in the Jordanian law that states if the deal affects the Jordanian public or Jordanian sovereignty, it must go through judicial and parliamentary roots.”

Jordanian MP Ahmad al-Armouti stated “the government does not have the right to sign any agreement contrary to the law or the constitution”.

MPs from a variety of different political backgrounds have spoken out against the deal, saying that “normalisation is unacceptable in all its forms”.

The campaign estimates that 56% of the deal ($5.6bn) and an estimated 40% of electricity bills paid by Jordanian households will go directly into Israeli government coffers.

Rania, who joined Tuesday’s protest, said “the deal was signed to normalise Israel more in the region and to make us more dependent on Israel.”

Another protestor said signing “makes us a political ally of Israel… We refuse to be part of passing money to the occupation and killing our Palestinian brothers and sisters.

“This is a milestone and some may argue that it’s worse than Oslo or the peace agreement between Jordan and Israel,” commented Khaled.

“The whole point of this deal… is enforcing normalisation so the thought of resistance, whether it’s peaceful, economic resistance… or cultural boycott is removed from the Jordanian individual’s mindset.”

MEE / Mel Plant

Objectors note the disparity between how many Jordanians see Israel as an “enemy state” due to its occupation of Palestine, and the Jordanian government’s military, diplomatic and economic cooperation with Israel after the Wadi Araba agreement (1994).

Denying the right to resistance

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement is prevalent in Jordan. BDS Jordan stated that the “agreement blatantly ignores the will of the Jordanian people”.

Khaled explained that while, before the deal, citizens were able to personally decide whether to “normalise” relations with Israel – by not buying imported fruits or vegetables, for example – now, “there is no choice. [The Jordanian citizen] is dependent. In this way, we feel it is a form of occupation”.

Opponents have highlighted the various alternatives, especially as gas already accounts for 85% of Jordan’s energy supply.

While the government predicts a growing demand of six to seven percent per year for energy production, currently the import of liquified natural gas to the Red Sea port of Aqaba sees a surplus which is re-exported to Iraq, Egypt and Jericho, West Bank.

Deals with Qatar (which has a larger supply than Israel) and Algeria for natural gas are also in the works, as is a planned pipeline from Basra, which would supply natural gas and oil to Jordan and Egypt.

Those seeking alternatives to Israeli gas, which the government claims will save it $600m per year, note Jordan’s native shale reserves, the fourth largest in the world, as well as opportunities within renewable energy.

An economic folly

Safaa’ al-Jayoussi, an environmental activist and head of the Climate and Energy Campaign, notes that “the gas deal is another example of the government putting money and efforts in the wrong place”.

“The Jordanian energy crisis is a crisis of ignorance. We have an energy sovereignty problem and instead of solving it by generating electricity from Jordan itself, we are moving from one country to another in order to import,” she explained.

The past year has seen a boom in Jordan’s green energy industry, financed by increasing international investment. Total investment in the sector is estimated at $1bn, with at least $532m going to the “Shams Maan” solar project.

Local green energy initiatives, such as the Hashemite University’s solar project, are not only touted by critics of the deal because of their environmentally friendly credentials. Investment in the native energy sector would aid Jordan’s chronic unemployment crisis, which overwhelmingly affects young people.

While the deal should supply 30% of Jordan’s energy needs, according to the government, it will not be implemented until 2019. Until then, Jordan’s energy needs will only expand. It seems opposition to the deal will also continue.

“I know the Jordanian government is not really democratic and does not listen to the people,” said Bustani, but through pursuing protest and legal action through the anti-corruption committee, he hopes that the “tremendous popular pressure around the country” will prevail.

London Sees Mass post-Brexit anti-Tory, anti-Austerity, anti-Racism Protest*

Several thousand protesters demonstrated in London on Saturday against austerity, racism and the new Tory government. The opposition rally was the biggest major protest since the June 23 Brexit referendum.

Central London saw more than 10,000 anti-Tory campaigners on the streets and Black Lives Matter activists.

Protesters made their way down Piccadilly Circus, Marble Arch and Hyde Park.

Crowds of people were demanding that new Prime Minister Theresa May resign.

Organizers said it was an “emergency demonstration” against austerity, racism and the Conservative Party. It was first arranged following the Brexit vote.

Protesters carried placards that said: “Refugees welcome,”“Defy Tory rule,” and “Cut war not welfare.”

The march, titled: “No More Austerity, No To Racism, Tories Must Go” was organized by various protest groups including the People’s Assembly Against Austerity.

“The message is very clear, that people are rejecting the Tories’ austerity policies. Communities are suffering as a result of them and the one way to end that is to get rid of the Tories,” one of the organizers, Steve Sweeney, told the Evening Standard.

The protest was joined by Black Lives Matter campaigners.

Meanwhile, a small anti-migrant demonstration of some 70 people, organized by the far-right English Defence League (EDL), was also held in central London.

Members of the far-right group wore English flags and masks, chanted “No surrender” referring to Islamist terrorist groups and at a rally in Hyde Park speakers railed against Islam and immigration.

The anti-austerity demonstration comes three weeks after the U.K. voted in a referendum and chose to leave the E.U. Following former Prime Minister David Cameron’s resignation, Theresa May took over the post on Wednesday.

May immediately began with a cull of Cameron allies in her new Cabinet, although she gave three key roles for known Eurosceptics.

One of her most controversial choices May was appointing former London Mayor and Leave campaigner Boris Johnson as foreign secretary.

False Flag Terror Attack in France Sees Harsh Military Rules Imposed Following Massive Civil Unrest*

The terror attack in Nice was a government orchestrated false flag operation designed to thwart the snowballing citizen uprising, and allow the authorities to impose harsh military measures across the country.

By Baxter Dmitry

The terror attack in Nice, France could not have come at a more auspicious time for the deeply unpopular President Hollande and his embattled government, leading many to believe this was a false flag government orchestrated attack.  The government and authorities have been struggling to control a citizen uprising for the past three months and now they can impose more state of emergency measures, call up military operational reserves, and justify clamping down on any dissidents to thwart the uprising movement.

Not long before the attack happened, French President Hollande said the national state of emergency was to be lifted, so it seems like a strange coincidence for an event to appear right away – on Bastille Day, the country’s national day celebrating the French Revolution in 1789 – allowing the state of emergency to be immediately reinstated, the current revolution to be thwarted, and the New World Order’s march to an authoritarian one world government to continue unimpeded.

Why is France getting attacked? It all started after France said they were going to recognize Palestine as a state, then they started getting odd ‘terror’ events which are used to demonize Muslims. The same happened with Belgium after they started moving in the same direction. Norway also had a mass killing after they sided with Palestine. A a pro-Palestine and anti-Israel political youth organization was attacked, leaving 77 dead.

In October 2014, France’s foreign minister said France would recognise a Palestinian state even if peace talks with Israel fails.

In November 2015 we had the Paris attacks.

In Belgium the parties of the new centre right government agreed to recognise Palestine as a state. The Chamber of Representatives adopted a resolution in favour of this motion in 2015.

Then we had the 2016 Brussels bombings.

Norway upgraded the Palestinian mission in Oslo to an embassy in December 2010, and Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre called for the creation of a Palestinian state within a year.

Then we had the 2011 Norway attacks.

The attacks in Norway were on the largest political youth organization, Workers’ Youth League, who were calling for a boycott of Israel in response to their crimes against humanity in Gaza. Many anti-Israel politicians of the future were killed off that day.

The most obvious suspect with the most to gain from such events is the CIA/MOSSAD. If it is them, they are trying to turn public opinion against Muslims, so there will be less pressure on the French government to help Palestine, and the New World Order can retain control.

While the mainstream media colludes with the authorities and suppresses news of the massive citizen uprising in France – the largest protests in the country since the French Revolution – they will give the false flag terror event blanket coverage for the next two weeks because this suits the purposes of their masters, the New World Order.

The people of France have been bravely rising up against their elitist ruling class for the last three months, then on Bastille Day, the day the French celebrate their ancestors rising up and overthrowing the elites, the current New World Order aligned government performed an inside job designed to save their skins and thwart the new French Revolution.
