Feds Make Record Gains On Human Trafficking As Global Networks are Broken Up*

By William Craddick

While the mainstream media’s attention has been fixed on political drama in Washington D.C., federal and state law enforcement have been quietly working to dismantle a shockingly large number of human trafficking and child abuse networks across the United States. The busts in America come at the same time as a number of other successful international law enforcement operations against networks engaging in human trafficking of women and children.

Since the inauguration of Donald Trump on January 20th, 2017, the number of trafficking arrests for human trafficking in 2017 have doubled the total numbers provided for the entire year of 2014 by the Department of Justice. Each individual law enforcement operation has been listed below for reader convenience:

Domestic Trafficking Busts

January 27th: 42 arrested in Memphis, Tennessee during a human trafficking operation led by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Arrestees included a medical professional, engineers, a law student, a tow truck driver and construction workers.

January 29th: 474 arrested, 27 adults and 28 sexually exploited children saved in an operation spearheaded by more than 30 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and task forces in Los Angeles, California. The bust of the sex ring was the largest human trafficking operation in United States history and was largely ignored by the media.

On the same day, five individuals were arrested in Bucks County, Pennsylvania as part of what authorities described as a fetish-themed child predator sex ring. The Pennsylvania Attorney General stated that the arrests were part of an ongoing investigation and that they believed the child abuse sex ring involved more victims and predators.

February 1st: 11 women rescued in an operation lead by the New Orleans Violent Crime against Children and Human Trafficking task force. No arrests were reported.

February 5th: 108 arrests were reported in Illinois as what was described as part of a national sex trafficking sting operation occurring in 15 different states.

178 individuals were arrested in Texas on the same day as part of the same John’s Suppression Initiative. Arrestees included the sports agent responsible for getting Roger Clemens the highest ever single-season Major League Baseball contract.

In addition to the arrests in Illinois and Texas, 464 other individuals were arrested in the same interstate operation on Super Bowl Sunday. Police stated that six minors and 86 adults were rescued during the operation.

February 10th: 160 individuals were arrested during an immigration crackdown in Los Angeles, California. 150 of the individuals arrested had criminal histories, many including child sex offenses.

February 13th: 22 arrested, 15 adults and 2 child victims saved at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show.

February 14th: The FBI raided the adoption agency European Adoption Consultants (EAC) in Strongsville, Ohio. In December the State Department debarred the agency from continued operation, citing failures “to adequately supervise…preventing the sale, abduction, exploitation, or trafficking of children.”

February 15th: 11 men were arrested during a child sex sting operation in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. One of the arrestees was working part time at a local Christian school.

42 individuals were also arrested in Polk County, Florida as part of a child pornography and sex offender investigation.

International Trafficking Busts

January 27th: 13 individuals were arrested in connection with a paedophile ring in Quebec, Canada. Several of the arrestees held positions as teachers and scout leaders.

February 5th: 9 individuals were arrested and 31 children and women rescued during a police raid at the Kaliko Beach Club resort in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Users online speculated that the arrests may have been related to an announcement two days earlier from the Clinton Foundation that they would be quitting their projects in Haiti.

February 10th: Six men aged 20 to 66 were arrested on child pornography charges involving 168 underage male victims in Japan

February 13th: 16 suspects were arrested and 24 children freed by the GhanaPolice Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (ATHU) from the Volta Lake in the process of being transported to other parts of the country to be sold into forced labour. Online users have pointed out the the now closed Clinton Global Initiative partnered with a program known as The Post Harvest Project (TPHP) in the Volta Lake area of Ghana, though at this time there is no definitive indication as to whether the arrests were related the project or not.

Notable Individual Arrests

February 13th: Jeffery Sandusky, the adopted son of disgraced child abuser Jerry Sandusky, was arrested on child molestation charges. He is accused of solicitation of statutory sexual assault, solicitation of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, six counts of unlawful contact with a minor and two counts each of solicitation to photograph or depict sexual acts, sexual abuse of children and corruption of minors.

February 15th: A man was arrested in Wayland, New York on charges of Possessing a Sexual Performance of a Child and Promoting Sexual Performance of a Child. Users online speculated that the individual was the Chief Analyst for the New York National Guard after a Linkedin profile was discovered under the same name as the arrestee.

Additionally, a newly appointed special prosecutor in Cleveland, Ohio reopened over 70 child sex cases according to reports on February 14th. A Jane Doe Plaintiff has also filed a new civil case on January 26th against notorious billionaire pedophile Jeffery Epstein and his associates Ghislaine Maxwell, Lesley Groff, Sarah Kellen, and Natalya Malyshev. The charges relate to the underage sex ring being run by Epstein that was uncovered in 2005. A pretrial conference will occur on March 9, 2017, in New York City.

Cop’s Rape of a Schoolteacher in Broad Daylight So Horrific, He’s Facing Life*

Cop’s Rape of a Schoolteacher in Broad Daylight So Horrific, He’s Facing Life*

By Matt Agorist

A former police officer who raped a New York City schoolteacher in broad daylight drew no sympathy from New York’s highest court, which unanimously affirmed his 75-to-life sentence on Valentine’s Day.

Michael Pena, now 32, had been off-duty on the morning of Aug. 19, 2011, when he pulled his loaded and police-issued gun on a young woman. The 25-year-old was on her way to her first day of teaching in the Bronx, when Pena pulled her into the courtyard of an Inwood apartment building and raped her.

Prosecutors broke down Pena’s assault into three separate offenses in his indictment, with each carrying a 25-year sentence.

Pena appealed to the New York Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court, after a lower court upheld his sentence in 2015, rejecting the ex-cop’s claim that this punishment was unfairly multiplied.

Pena’s lawyer Ephraim Savitt has emphasized that his client’s penalty is 63 years longer than the average rape sentence. “If that disparity is not cruel and unusual, then perhaps there’s no purpose to having the Eighth Amendment on the books any more,” Savitt said in a phone interview on Tuesday.

In unanimously upholding Pena’s sentence this morning, the Court of Appeals noted that the Pena’s counsel did not invoke alleged violations of U.S. and New York Constitutions.

“Although defendant generally objected to the length of the sentence before the sentencing court, arguing that the sentence was draconian, he did not alert the court to his constitutional argument,” Judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam wrote for the six-judge court.

“Thus, the sentencing court was never given an opportunity to address any of the constitutional challenges that defendant now lodges with this court,” she added.

Chief Judge Janet DiFiore joined the ruling, as did Judges Jenny Rivera, Leslie Stein, Eugene Fahey and Michael Garcia.

Attorney Savitt bristled at this reasoning.

“The Sixth Amendment now takes precedence over weight to give to it than the Eighth Amendment,” he said in an interview.

Another sentencing disparity in Pena’s case involves that between the average U.S. sentence as opposed to other advanced nations.

Marc Mauer, the executive director of the advocacy group Sentencing Project, surprised many in congressional testimony last year by proposing an upper limit of no more than 20 years – barring “exceptional circumstances” – in the federal sentencing structure.

That Pena had been a police officer when he committed his horrific crime likely contributed to his heavy sentence, but Pavitt asserted that international politics may have played a role as well.

Just days after Pena’s attack, New York City prosecutors were forced to withdraw charges against Dominique Strauss-Kahn because of evidence discrediting the hotel maid whom the then-director of the International Monetary Fund director had allegedly raped.

Activists accused Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance at the time of blaming the victim.

Savitt suggested that this political climate created a tough posture in prosecuting his client, though this argument did not come up in Pena’s appeal.

Judge Rowan Wilson did not take part in the decision as he only joined the court in January.

Judge Abdus-Salaam is the first Muslim woman to sit on the state’s highest court.

Mass Sexual Assault by Refugees in Germany was Fake News*

Mass Sexual Assault by Refugees in Germany was Fake News*

Reports of mass sexual assaults on women in Frankfurt on New Year’s Eve allegedly committed by dozens of drunken refugees, and which initially appeared in Germany’s Bild newspaper, were made up and are “completely baseless,” police said.

The story about mass sexual assaults by refugees in the Fressgass Street area in downtown Frankfurt was reported by Bild earlier in February. The article has since been taken down.

One of the victims, Irina A., 27, told Bild: “They [the migrants] grabbed me under the skirt, between my legs, my breasts, everywhere….More and more of these guys came. Their hands were everywhere,” the Express said, quoting the original report.

Her words were supported by Jan Mai, a local pub owner, who said that a mob of Arabs was “highly aggressive, there was shouting and hand gestures.”

“When I came in, the whole place was full with a group of around 50 Arabs. They did not speak German, drank our guests’ drinks and danced towards them. The women asked me for help because they were being attacked. The mood changed completely,” he told Bild, as cited by the Express.

It was claimed the migrants came from a refugee centre in Hesse state, where Frankfurt is located, the Local said, citing the original report.

Police started an investigation into the alleged incidents and on Tuesday released a report stating that the allegations of mass sexual assaults had been invented.

“There were no massive mob-like attacks by masses of refugees in Fressgass [Street]. The allegations were groundless,” police said.

In the article several people “reported about sexual assaults, bodily injuries, thefts and extremely aggressive behavior of masses of refugees. Media interest in these descriptions was very high. The police were not aware of these circumstances,” the statement said.

According to police, “interviews with alleged witnesses, guests and employees led to major doubts with the version of events that had been presented.

One of the alleged victims was not even in Frankfurt at the time the allegations are said to have taken place,” the report said.

The Bild editorial team quickly apologizedfor this inaccurate reporting and the accusations against those concerned.”

“This reporting does not correspond in any way to the journalistic standards of Bild,” the newspaper said in a statement.

Bild said that the alleged witnesses – the pub owner and his staff – talked of mass sexual assaults to other media outlets.

“We apologize for our own work. I’ll shortly announce what Bild will do about it,” online editor-in-chief Julian Reichelt tweeted.

The Bild story appeared to prompt comparisons with the Cologne attacks committed on New Year’s Eve in 2015. Back then, groups of North African men sexually assaulted hundreds of women in the city.

A German police report from November revealed the latest figures on the crimes committed on New Year’s Eve 2015 across Germany: 881 sexual offenses involving over 1,231 women. The victims were almost all young women.

Apart from Germany, similar sex attacks allegedly took place on New Year’s Eve that year in Sweden, Austria, Finland and Switzerland.

Yes, assaults took place… and they’ve been taking place on an increasing basis in cities across the West for years. These assaults are being been carried out NOT primarily by newly-arrived immigrants, but by nationals and longer-term residents of European countries (ie, by people already living in Europe’s ghettos before the waves of arrivals after NATO destroyed Libya and Syria) – a fact that has everything to do with the West’s internal economic, political and moral collapse, and little to do with ‘outsiders coming for our wimmins’.

French police Apologize for Raping Black Man*

French police Apologize for Raping Black Man*

Racial profiling by French police during routine identity checks has been condemned by the courts.

French police announced Thursday that they believe the rape of a Black man by police using a baton was accidental and that evidence showing the penetration was intentional was insufficient. This conclusion was made after an internal inquiry was conducted by the police.

The statement was made after days of protests in the French capital by those outraged by the excessive use of force against a 22-year-old Black man in a Paris suburb.

The incident occurred in a housing complex in the Aulnay-sous-Bois suburb when four police officers arrived to conduct identity checks. A 22-year-old Black man, identified only by his first name Theo, was allegedly stopped by the officers, forced to the ground and beaten. The young man did not have a prior criminal record.

The abuse caused him serious injuries for which he was rushed to a hospital and required surgery due to the severity of the injuries. One of the police officers has been charged with rape, while three others were charged with assault.

Protests erupted throughout Paris in response to the brutal beating by police.

There has been little oversight of police practices in France, even after sociologists ran an independent study in 2009 proving that racial profiling is a reality. The study found that a Black or Arab person had a 6.2 and 7.7% greater chance, respectively, of being stopped by police than a white person.

While much more limited than 12 years ago, the unrest served as a reminder of the simmering tensions in neighborhoods with higher-than-average unemployment and big immigrant populations, as France prepares to elect a new president this year.

Citizens Fight Back, Move to Impeach Judge for Letting Paedophile Cop Off Easy*

Citizens Fight Back, Move to Impeach Judge for Letting Paedophile Cop Off Easy*

By Jack Burns

As The Free Thought Project has consistently reported, police officers, even if they’re caught on video committing a crime, are rarely punished to the same standards the public which they’re sworn to protect are held to. And now, it seems, even retired police officers are given the same preferential treatment.

Gerald Cookus, a twenty-year veteran of the Wilkes-Barre Police Department in Pennsylvania, was sentenced to just 3 months in prison for admittedly molesting an 8-year-old girl at his home on Mayock Street in Wilkes-Barre.

Cookus, who was working as a greeter at the school known as the Solomon Plains Education Center, was seen by the victim’s mom hugging the victim in a way that aroused her suspicions. Upon further investigation, it was discovered Cookus had molested the girl because, in his words, he felt like she liked it.

According to WNEP News, “Court papers show he admitted to police he touched the girl inappropriately because he believed she thought it felt good. School leaders do not think the assaults happened on school grounds. He was fired from his position at Solomon Plains Elementary in November.”

News reports indicate the former career police officer was overcome with emotion,

“Inside the courtroom, his lawyer told the judge he’s living with the loss of his family’s respect.”

And,

“Before he was sentenced, Cookus told the judge through tears, ‘this is the worst thing in my life and I’m sorry. I’m very, very sorry.’”

But all of the emotion, the tears, the words of remorse, mean nothing when you examine the research that exists on paedophiles.

Paedophiles are serial offenders. Very few are arrested as a result of their first offense, and go on to molest children, over and over again. While it’s too early to tell in the case of convicted paedophile retired officer Gerald Cookus (mainly because he’s only been convicted of one crime by one accuser), paedophiles are experts at victimizing.

According to one source which examines research related to pedophiles and their victims, “Paedophiles have a strong, almost irresistible, desire to have sex with children. The average paedophile molests 260 victims during their lifetime. Over 90% of convicted paedophiles are arrested again for the same offense after their release from prison.”

We at The Free Thought Project encourage you to come forward, if you’re a victim of this pedophile cop. Be strong and courageous and take your own accusations to the police station nearest you. If you recognize this police officer as someone who molested you, don’t stay silent any longer.

While Cookus was working at a local elementary school, he also worked in security at Wilkes University in the 1990’s.

Moreover, citizens of Wilkes-Barre are outraged at the judge in the case, Judge Sklarosky, for going easy on the retired police officer. Three months is an outrage to anyone who’s ever been a victim of a paedophile, has been molested, or has been involved in the process of a police investigation of the horrors associated with child sexual abuse.

Citizens want to know how a judge can be so callous as to not bring a harsher penalty to the former police officer and use him as an example for the rest of the community. They’ve established a petition to impeach Judge Sklarosky.

According to the petition:

“This is a deep problem in NEPA that has to be addressed. Corruption, nepotism, and racially/economically unequal sentences. If this Judge wants to impose only a 3 month sentence to a cop who admitted to sexually assaulting an 8 year old while throwing the book at everyone else, let’s make an example out of him and show the local government officials we’re not putting up with this blatant corruption that haunts our area anymore. It’s morally wrong. A man who sexually assaults an 8 year old will not be properly rehabilitated, if that’s even possible, after three months. This judge obviously lacks empathy to the victim or possible future victim(s) and is totally incompetent. He has no business collecting our tax dollars anymore, he obviously doesn’t represent what we the people stand for. Minorities caught with marijuana do more time than this man. Shame on him. The judge also had the audacity to claim he was not a “sexually violent predator”. So judge, if sexually assaulting an 8 year old isn’t sexually violent, what is? Please resign. Don’t make us impeach you. Leave with whatever little shred of dignity you have left. If not, and you prove to us you have absolutely no morals or backbone, don’t for a second think we’re going to allow you to win your re-election coming up. #PowerToThePeople”

If you’d like to sign the petition, you may do so by clicking here. Let’s send a message as a nation and a world that we will not sit idly by as judges go easy on former cops. The world needs to be a safer place for children. Priests, pastors, missionaries, teachers, counselors, police officers, anyone who works with children, take notice, we will not sit idly. If you take the perp walk, we will make sure your face is known to the world.

At least 42 suspects were arrested during a sting targeting human and sex trafficking in Memphis, Tennessee, police said.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, in a release, said that 38 men and four women were arrested, which included “eight men responding to the ads tried to buy sex from a minor.” Meanwhile, “those arrested include a medical professional, engineers, a law student, a tow truck driver and construction workers,” the TBI added.

Two juvenile female victims of human trafficking were also recovered in the sting and were referred to the Department of Children’s Services.

Agents posted four ads each day on Backpage.com for about 7 hours each day, and some 475 men responded to them in total.

“We have said all along that this is a demand-driven crime, and this operation demonstrates how very prevalent that demand is,” TBI Director Mark Gwyn said in the release.

“Let me speak directly to men: The women you see advertised online are people, not products. We need men to step up and demand better from themselves and the men around them.”

“Operations like ‘Operation Someone Like Me’ are necessary to protect the innocence of youth within our community. It is sickening to know that there are individuals who prey on our girls and women,” added Memphis Police Director Michael Rallings.

“Parents and family members, be aware and know where your children are and what they are doing at all times.”

A Royal Commission into child abuse by the Australian Catholic church has revealed a shocking picture of impunity and predation, with nearly 7% of priests accused of abusing children between Jan. 1980 and Feb. 2015.

According to the damning report released by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse Monday, 4,444 alleged victims suffered child abuse at the hands of the Catholic church.

But despite this, “Allegations were not investigated. Priests and religious (figures) were moved. The parishes or communities to which they were moved knew nothing of their past,” said Gail Furness, senior counsel assisting the commission.

The commission found an alleged 1,880 predators within the Catholic church. Of these 572 — over one in three — were Catholic priests. In some dioceses, up to 40% of priests were accused of abusing children.

In one case, the inquiry heard testimony from Peter Blenkiron who recounted how he was physically and sexually abused by his Christian teacher in class while the other students were told to look away.

In another case, Catholic priest Peter Searson was accused of sexually abusing a 9-year girl in his confessional booth.

The harrowing report accuses the Catholic church of fostering a perverse system of fear and shame where abuse victims were “ignored or worse, punished,” said Furness.

On average, the commission found it took 33 years for each instance of abuse to be reported.

What’s more, the Holy See refused to assist the commission, according to Furness.

She told the hearing, “The royal commission hoped to gain an understanding of the action taken in each case. The Holy See responded, on July 1, 2014, that it was ‘neither possible nor appropriate to provide the information requested.’”

In response to the shocking report, the church’s Truth, Justice and Healing Council, which was set up to coordinate the response to the findings, has condemned the abuse as a “massive failure.”

“These numbers are shocking, they are tragic, they are indefensible,” said chief executive Francis Sullivan Monday, speaking on behalf of the council.

“As Catholics, we hang our heads in shame.”

The landmark royal commission was set up in 2013 to investigate allegations of sexual and physical abuse in religious, educational and sporting institutions in Australia.

The commission is now in its final stage, where the final three weeks are expected to investigate the cultural causes for the crisis and how the church can improve protections for children.
