Biotin and PABA

Biotin (Vitamin B₇) helps the body to assimilate protein, vitamin B₁₂, folic acid, and pantothenic acid. Essential in helping tom produce the needed body fat for energy. It is assists in the body’s overall growth, prevents premature graying of hair, and is essential in the even distribution of skin pigmentation.

Symptoms of deficiency include loss of appetite, exhaustion, muscle pains, dermatitis, insomnia, depression, increase in blood cholesterol, poor skin color.

It is at its optimum with folic acid, pantothenic acid, vitamins B₁₂, and C.

Foods containing biotin include:

    Cereals – Cornmeal.

    Dairy – Cheddar cheese, whole cow’s milk, egg yolk.

    Fruits – Apples, bananas, cantaloupe, oranges, peaches, raisins, strawberries, watermelon.

    Herbs and Spices – Dandelion leaves, thyme, parsley.

    Meats – Poultry.

    Seeds/Nuts – Almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, pecan nuts, pinon nuts, walnuts.

    Sea Foods – Herring, mackerel, salmon, sardines, tuna.

    Vegetables etc – Asparagus, bean sprouts, beet, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, corn, green beans, lentils, mushrooms, onions, peas, soybeans, sweet potatoes, turnip greens.

Para-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA) is a coenzyme in the breakdown of proteins which is produced from friendly intestinal bacteria. It helps in the production of folic acid, and helps in the formation of healthy red blood cells. PABA helps to maintain healthy hair and skin pigmentation, and acts as natural sun screen.

Symptoms of deficiency include Digestive disorders, chronic headaches, depression, exhaustion, anemia, and nervousness.

It is best taken with folic acid, and vitamin C.

It is canceled out by Alcohol, coffee, and sulfa drugs.

Foods containing PABA include:

    Cereals – Whole brown rice, wheat germ

    Herbs and Spices – Dandelion leaves, thyme, parsley.

    Meats – Kidneys, liver.

    Vegetables etc – Mushrooms, spinach

    Other – Brewer’s yeast, molasses (black honey).
