Military Admits ‘Martial Law’ Training in the U.S for to Imposed around the World*

Military Admits ‘Martial Law’ Training in the U.S for to Imposed around the World*

Newly-leaked military documents reveal what the United States government is no longer denying: that elite branches of the military are currently preparing for “training exercises” throughout the U.S. southwest which simulate martial law scenarios.

The document reveals the training exercises are being conducted under the name “Operation Jade Helm.”

The exercises are scheduled to begin this July and continue for eight weeks. The operation will include the participation of 1,200 troops from the the Green Berets, Navy SEALS and Special Operations from the Air Force and Marines.

While the military acknowledges the leaked information is legitimate, they have termed the exercises “Realistic Military Training” and confirm that these exercises will be carried out in towns in Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas as well as Utah. For whatever reason, the focus seems to be on the U.S. southwest in particular.

In the case of Texas, the military is being the most forthright about the exercises – admitting they are in the works and asking Texans living in close proximity to the operation to report anything which the military has characterized as “suspicious activity” during the exercises.

The leaked US military training document, was released by The Houston Chronicle. It perhaps overestimates the US military belief that Texans have been “historically supportive” of military exercises like these, as they believe them to be for the purposes of “fight[ing] the enemies of the United States.”

Army Special Operation Command spokesman Mark Lastoria acknowledged that the exercises are all about “covert warfare tactics and martial law.”

They are to develop “emerging concepts in special operations warfare,” he continued.

He told a US Army publication known as Stripes that the “notion” that this is training for martial law in the United States “was proposed by a few individuals who are unfamiliar with how and why USASOC conducts training exercises.”

He adds that Americans shouldn’t be worried, because they are really just training to impose martial law on cities around the world “at a moment’s notice.”

“This exercise is routine training to maintain a high level of readiness for Army Special Operations Forces because they must be ready to support potential missions anywhere in the world on a moment’s notice.”

Skeptics, however, have asked why states like Texas and Utah, as well as a section of southern California?

Whatever the reason for the U.S. military conducting what they admit are “martial law” exercises in what they also call “realistic urban sites,” what we know for certain is that the Special Forces will be on the ground in cities and towns across the country. Whether this is for the purposes of training to oppress civilians abroad or in the U.S., it has a lot of people concerned and asking questions.

Top 10 Ways Islamic Law Forbids Terrorism*

and the callous taking of a life.

By Juan Cole

This week Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was convicted on all counts in the Boston Marathon bombings. However, there was not much Muslim recognizable in his and his brother’s style of life. Here are 10 ways that the Tsarnaev brothers broke Muslim law…

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 21, has been convicted on all counts in the Boston Marathon bombings.

Dzhokhar and his brother Tamerlan were from a mixed Chechen and Avar family.  Dzhokhar was born in Kyrgyzstan, a Central Asian republic that had been part of the Communist Soviet Union.  Being from a Soviet background, the Tsarnaevs were probably originally more or less atheists, whatever they said later.  Even Soviet Muslims from the Caucasus and Central Asia who identified as “Muslims” mostly did so before the 1990s as a matter of ethnicity, not piety.  Most Soviet Muslim men drank copious amounts of vodka.  Few knew how to pray in the Muslim manner with prostrations.  Being deracinated appears to have left the Tsarnaev boys open to the blandishments of radical Muslim cults on the internet.  But there was even so not much recognizably Muslim in their style of life.

It is worthwhile reprising on this day my 2013 posting on the ways that the Tsarnaevs broke Muslim law, which I’ve very slightly revised:

  1. Terrorism is above all murder.  Murder is strictly forbidden in the Qur’an.  Qur’an 6:151 says,

“and do not kill a soul that God has made sacrosanct, save lawfully.” (i.e. murder is forbidden but the death penalty imposed by the state for a crime is permitted).

5:53 says,

“… whoso kills a soul,  unless it be for murder or for wreaking corruption in the land, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind; and he who saves a life, it shall be as if he had given life to all mankind.”

  1. If the motive for terrorism is religious, it is impermissible in Islamic law.  It is forbidden to attempt to impose Islam on other people. The Qur’an says,

“There is no compulsion in religion. The right way has become distinct from error.”  (-The Cow, 2:256).

Note that this verse was revealed in Medina in 622 AD or after and was never abrogated by any other verse of the Qur’an.  Islam’s holy book forbids coercing people into adopting any religion.  They have to willingly choose it.

  1. Islamic law forbids aggressive warfare. The Qur’an says,

“But if the enemies incline towards peace, do you also incline towards peace. And trust in God! For He is the one who hears and knows all things.” (8:61)

The Qur’an chapter “The Cow,” 2:190, says,

“Fight in the way of God against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! God loveth not aggressors.”

  1. In the Islamic law of war, not just any civil engineer can declare or launch a war.  It is the prerogative of the duly constituted leader of the Muslim community that engages in the war.  Qur’an 4:59 says

“Obey God and the Messenger and those in authority among you.”

Nowadays that would be the president or prime minister of the state, as advised by the mufti or national juris-consult.

  1. The killing of innocent non-combatants is forbidden. According to Sunni tradition,

‘Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, the first Caliph, gave these instructions to his armies: “I instruct you in ten matters: Do not kill women, children, the old, or the infirm; do not cut down fruit-bearing trees; do not destroy any town . . . ” (Malik’s Muwatta’, “Kitab al-Jihad.”)

  1. Terrorism or hirabah is forbidden in Islamic law, which groups it with brigandage, highway robbery and extortion rackets– any illicit use of fear and coercion in public spaces for money or power.  The principle of forbidding the spreading of terror in the land is based on the Qur’an (Surah al-Ma’ida 5:33–34).  Prominent [pdf] Muslim legal scholar Sherman Jackson writes,

“The Spanish Maliki jurist Ibn `Abd al-Barr (d. 464/ 1070)) defines the agent of hiraba as ‘Anyone who disturbs free passage in the streets and renders them unsafe to travel, striving to spread corruption in the land by taking money, killing people or violating what God has made it unlawful to violate is guilty of hirabah . . .”

  1. Sneak attacks are forbidden. Muslim commanders must give the enemy fair warning that war is imminent.  The Prophet Muhammad at one point gave 4 months notice (Q. 9:5).
  2. The Prophet Muhammad counselled doing good to those who harm you and is said to have commanded,

“Do not be people without minds of your own, saying that if others treat you well you will treat them well, and that if they do wrong you will do wrong to them. Instead, accustom yourselves to do good if people do good and not to do wrong (even) if they do evil.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

  1. The Qur’an demands of believers that they exercise justice toward people even where they have reason to be angry with them:

“And do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just.  Be just; that is nearer to righteousness.”[5:8]

  1. The Qur’an assures Christians and Jews of paradise if they believe and do good works, and commends Christians as the best friends of Muslims.  I wrote elsewhere,

“Dangerous falsehoods are being promulgated to the American public. The Qur’an does not preach violence against Christians.

Qur’an 5:69 says (Arberry):

“Surely they that believe, and those of Jewry, and the Christians, and those Sabeaans, whoso believes in God and the Last Day, and works righteousness–-their wage waits them with their Lord, and no fear shall be on them, neither shall they sorrow.”

In other words, the Qur’an promises Christians and Jews along with Muslims that if they have faith and works, they need have no fear in the afterlife. It is not saying that non-Muslims go to hell– quite the opposite.

When speaking of the 7th-century situation in the Muslim city-state of Medina, which was at war with pagan Mecca, the Qur’an notes that the polytheists and some Arabian Jewish tribes were opposed to Islam, but then goes on to say:

5:82. ” . . . and you will find the nearest in love to the believers [Muslims] those who say: ‘We are Christians.’ That is because amongst them are priests and monks, and they are not proud.”

So the Qur’an not only does not urge Muslims to commit violence against Christians, it calls them “nearest in love” to the Muslims! The reason given is their piety, their ability to produce holy persons dedicated to God, and their lack of overweening pride.

Election Leaflet Illustrates the State of British Education*

Suzy Howlett, 54, inset, who specialises in teaching foreign-born children English, took councillors Derek Tanswell and Sharon Snook to task over their spelling, punctuation and grammar. The UKIP candidates, from Frome, Somerset, defected to Nigel Farage’s party two weeks ago and hope to be re-elected in May, having left the Lib Dems to improve their chances. Mrs Howlett, a specialist teacher with 32 years experience, told MailOnline she enjoyed a ‘happy two minutes’ correcting their work. She said: ‘I won’t discuss (Ukip) policies, I will just say that the children I work with are a delight, and some of them could teach Mr Tanswell a thing or two about apostrophes’.

Mr Tanswell today said his former party have ‘hacked’ his emails for information to create a slapdash leaflet to scupper their election hopes, and has called in police.

However, a party source has suggested the leaflet is genuine.

He said: ‘They had to rewrite everything and it looks like they didn’t have time to spell check it.’

Emergency Closure of Fishery Along Entire West Coast: Strange Diseases*

Emergency Closure of Fishery Along Entire West Coast: Strange Diseases*

NY Times, Apr 15, 2015: [Regulators] approved an emergency closure of commercial sardine fishing off Oregon, Washington and California… Earlier this week, the council shut down the next sardine season… [R]evised estimates of sardine populations… found the fish were declining in numbers faster than earlier believed… [Stocks are] much lower than estimated last year… The reasons are not well-understood.

Pacific Fishery Management Council meeting, April 13, 2015: Ben Enticknap, Oceana senior scientist (1:08:00 in) —

“We’ve seen a significant change in recruitment [Recruitment: The number of new young fish that enter a population]. There’s been practically no recruitment in recent years, and this was not expected.”

Undercurrent News, Apr 14, 2015: [A]ccording to the report on the emergency action from the PFMC…

“the total stock biomass of Pacific sardine is declining as a result of poor recruitment“… [A California Wetfish Producers Association official said] “little recruitment was observed in 2011-2014.”

Oregonian, Apr 13, 2015: Pacific coast sardines are facing a population collapse so severe[fishing] will be shut down… [The] downward spiral in spite of favorable water conditions has ocean-watchers worried there’s more to this collapse than cyclical population trends.

“There are a lot of weird things happening out there, and we’re not quite sure why they aren’t responding the way they should,” said Kevin Hill, a NOAA Fisheries biologist…

Fishery managers are adding it to a list of baffling circumstances off the West Coast… NOAA surveys indicate very few juvenile fish made it through their first year. “The population isn’t replacing itself,” Hill said.

SFist, Apr 14, 2015: [T]he population appears decimated… As the Council writes,

“temperatures in the Southern California Bight have risen in the past two years, but we haven’t seen an increase in young sardines”…

Sardines typically spawn in warmer waters, with cold water decreasing their numbers.

SF Chronicle, Apr 14, 2015: Sardine population collapses… [There’s] evidence stocks are going through the same kind of collapse [seen in the 1950s]… The sardine population along the West Coast has collapsed… Causes of crisis — A lack of spawning… was blamed for the decline… Severedownturn… things recently took a turn for the worse… because of a lack of spawning due to poor ocean conditions in 2014… The collapse this year is the latest in a series of alarming die-offs, sicknesses and population declines in the ocean ecosystem along the West Coast. Anchovies… have also declined [due to] a lack of zooplankton… Record numbers of starving sea lions… Brown pelicans, too, have suffered from mass reproductive failures and are turning up sick and dead… Strange diseases have also been proliferating in the sea…

An analysis of 727 studies reveals that there have been more instances of rapid, catastrophic animal die-offs over the past 75 years. These mass kills appear to have hit birds, fish and marine invertebrates harder than other species. – Science Daily

Monterey Herald, Apr 13, 2015: For the first time in 30 years [sardine fishing] will be banned.

KPCC, Apr 1, 2015: The first time that sardine fishing has been banned since federal management of the fishery began… Many are worried a… catastrophic crash is happening.

$63 Million to Brain-Damaged Victims of Swine Flu Vaccine*

$63 Million to Brain-Damaged Victims of Swine Flu Vaccine*

By Jefferey Jaxen

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is in the news again making headlines after having to settle another major lawsuit bringing the latest total to over $9.1 billion since 2003. This time, it is due to GSK’s product Pandemrix, which was the swine flu vaccine forced upon the public during the pandemic of 2009 (which is argued by some to have been fake). As the victims are being compensated in the U.K., the same neurological mechanisms that damaged the children in the lawsuit are still potentially at work in the confirmed excito-toxicity that takes place after many vaccine injections.

According to the International Business Times U.K. Edition, each of the victims is “expected to receive £1 million each.” Peter Todd, a lawyer who represented many of the claimants, told the Sunday Times (U.K.):

“There has never been a case like this before. The victims of this vaccine have an incurable and lifelong condition and will require extensive medication.”

Unfortunately for Peter Todd and the countless other victims, there has been cases like this before. Neurological damage from vaccines is not a rare occurrence. In fact, the U.S. government has paid out $3 billion and counting to families of vaccine-injured children. Most of which were due to direct neurological damage or complications arising from such damage.

According to The Global Research Project, the GlaxoSmithKline rap sheet states:

“In recent years, GlaxoSmithKline has become known as the company that pays massive amounts to resolve wide-ranging charges brought by U.S. regulators and prosecutors.

These included a $750 million payment relating to the sale of adulterated products from a facility in Puerto Rico and a record $3 billion in connection with charges relating to illegal marketing, suppression of adverse safety research results and overcharging government customers. The company also set a record for the largest tax avoidance settlement with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.”

If GlaxoSmithKline wasn’t afforded legal and financial government protection status, they would have went under years ago. However, this corporate zombie still damages populations with little oversight and deep pockets to pay for any legal or ethical challenges that get in the way.

Currently, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, and other pharmaceutical houses were influential in the passing of California Senate Bill 277 to remove the “parental opposition” that was slowing their product’s revenue stream. What wasn’t disclosed during the senate hearing, or vote following, was that the bill’s author Richard Pan had financial ties to GlaxoSmithKline and Merck. In a fair legal system, this should immediately disqualify the bill and bring serious moral and ethical challenges to Pan’s legitimacy.

Thousands of Students Boycott Common Core Testing*

Thousands of Students Boycott Common Core Testing*

By  Jack Kenny

Parents kept tens of thousands of students out of Common Core testing in schools throughout the city and state of New York Tuesday in a campaign organizers hope reached the goal of 250,000 students avoiding the tests. Official numbers won’t be available for weeks, the New York Post reported, while observing that the number of third- to eighth-graders state-wide not taking Tuesday’s English exam will likely exceed last year’s 60,000. The Math exam will be given next week.

At the Institute for Collaborative Education on the Lower East Side, 85% of the students opted out, according to parents. At PS 321 in Brooklyn’s Park Slope, parents said 35% of the students refused, up from 30% last year. At PS 29 in nearby Cobble Hill, the opt-out rate rose from 20% a year ago to 25%, the Post reported. Boycotting parents say the testing produces both needless anxiety on the part of the students and an unfair means of evaluating teachers.

“I am not opposed to tests,” Danny Katch said, explaining why his fourth-grade daughter did not take the test at PS 69 in Jackson Heights, Queens.

“I certainly want my kids to respect their teachers and do what the school encourages them to do,” Katch told the Post.

“But these tests aren’t coming from the teachers and their tests aren’t coming from the school. In fact, almost every teacher I talked to doesn’t believe these tests are effective at all.”

Liza Ezbiansky of Brooklyn, a backer of the opt-out movement, kept her eight-year-old daughter out of the state-wide English and comprehension tests because she believes the tests measure

how well the kids can stay organized and actually complete the paperwork of the test versus actually understanding anything about English or comprehension,” she told the Post.

Some parents and students were supportive of the testing.

“I do feel the tests stress the kids out,” said Pablo Reyes, whose son in third grade was in an after-school program two days a week to study for the test.

“But he’s confident and thriving, so I think the tests are a good thing.”

Eight-year-old Furqan Shabazz told the Post he had been studying for the tests since first grade.

“I was a little nervous because there were a lot of questions … but we talked earlier about the best way to finish the test.”

“I’m happy to have my son take the test,” said the boy’s mother, Brenda Rodriguez of East Harlem.

Though Common Core has been promoted nationwide as a voluntary program, state Education Department officials worry about reduced federal aid for New York schools if participation in the tests drops below 95%.

“Those who call for opting out really want New York to opt out of information that can help parents and teachers understand how well their students are doing,” said Jeanne Beattie, a state Education Department spokeswoman.

“We can’t go back to ignoring the needs of our children.”

The New York Daily News published an editorial Monday ridiculing the boycott as the work of teachers’ unions and “fringe parents.”

“The silliness of portraying children who answer English and math questions as victims of near-child abuse is exceeded only by the cynicism of the unions’ anti-testing propaganda campaign. Because the attacks on testing are orchestrated to protect teachers, not students,” the Daily News said, naming New York State United Teachers as the driving force behind the boycott.

“Widespread boycotts would undermine the credibility of teacher ratings, reducing the risk that the worst instructors could be fired. Kids would get worse than nothing out of the deal,” according to the editorial.

New York is not the only state in which the Common Core testing is being met with resistance. As reported by The New American on Monday, students and their parents at Nathan Hale High School in Seattle, Washington, have taken the lead in resisting the new “Smarter Balanced Assessment” Common Core tests. Critics of the program claim that like No Child Left Behind and other federal education programs that theoretically leave curriculum development up to state and local school districts, Common Core as a practical matter has the effect of developing a national curriculum. Tests shape the curricula and the federal Department of Education coerces participation in the program by granting or withholding funds, depending on whether and to what extent the states and localities embrace the federal standards.

Critics have also panned the content of the Common Core program, claiming that in English, for example, there is a reduced emphasis on learning literature in favour of vocational/technical texts, making much of the education a jobs-training program for employers, while expanding the market for technology products. That might explain at least some of the enthusiastic vocal and financial support Common Core has received from some of the world’s largest and most powerful business interests, including IBM, Boeing, Verizon, BAE Systems, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Manufacturers, and, of course, Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft founder Bill Gates has spent at least $200 million, and some say as high as $2 billion, through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in a campaign to convince states to adopt the Common Core standards.

“Money flowed to policy groups on the right and left,” the Washington Post noted in a 2014 report on the Common Core campaign.

“Liberals at the Center for American Progress and conservatives affiliated with the American Legislative Exchange Council who routinely disagree on nearly every issue accepted Gates money and found common ground on the Common Core.”

The most important grant was the $2.1 million that went to the National Governors Association, whose early adoption of Common Core provided a thin cover for a drive toward federal government control of a nationalized school curriculum. After all, proponents argue, the standards came from the governors.

“You had dozens of states adopting before the standards even existed, with little or no discussion, coverage or controversy,” Frederick Hess of the American Enterprise Institute told the Post. “People weren’t paying attention. We were in the middle of an economic meltdown and the health-care fight, and states saw a chance to have a crack at a couple of million bucks if they made some promises.”

Addressing the National Council of State Legislators in 2009, Gates spoke of Common Core’s “clear and rigorous standards that will match the best in the world.” Noting that $350 million of “economic stimulus” funds would be used to create new tests to determine if students are meeting the Common Core standards, Gates said,

When the tests are aligned to common standards, the curriculum will line up as well. And that will unleash a powerful market of people providing services for better teaching. For the first time, there’ll be a large uniform base of customers looking at using products that will help every kid learn and every teacher get better. Imagine having people who create great online video games applying their intelligence to online tools that will pull kids in and make Algebra and other subjects fun.

Creating that “large uniform base of customers” for educational “products” will doubtless be a boon for software and information technology companies, but it will not necessarily produce better educated students, even if it does promise to “make Algebra and other subjects fun.” In fact, if schools were doing a better job of teaching, and students more adequately learning, about American history and the Constitution of the United States, there might be a greater understanding in the land — even among senators and representatives in Congress — that the powers delegated to the federal government by said Constitution do not include a federal role in education.

That appears not to matter to those who make laws and set policy in Washington, nor to those in the field of education who appear eager to embrace every new fad and fancy in the field of pedagogy as long as someone else is paying for it.
